Sales - Head

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales Head based in India.

This leadership role is focused on driving commercial growth and shaping the go-to-market strategy for advanced utility technology solutions across India and selected international markets. You will be responsible for building and executing the sales strategy across smart metering, AMI, MDM, billing, and digital utility platforms, positioning the organization as a trusted technology partner in the energy and utilities ecosystem. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on deal execution, requiring close engagement with senior utility stakeholders, regulators, and ecosystem partners. You will also play a key role in expanding market presence, developing large enterprise opportunities, and managing complex sales cycles. Working in collaboration with global leadership and cross-functional teams, you will influence both commercial outcomes and product direction. This is a high-impact role suited for a senior sales leader with deep industry expertise and a strong execution mindset.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and execute the India sales strategy aligned with global business objectives, ensuring consistent revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Drive new business acquisition and account expansion across utility clients, managing end-to-end enterprise sales cycles and multi-million-dollar deals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders in utilities, including CMDs, MDs, CIOs/CTOs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead tendering, RFP, and bid management processes, including consortium building, negotiations, and contract closures.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Design pricing strategies, commercial models, and deal structures to support competitive positioning and profitability.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and customer engagements to strengthen brand presence.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and delivery teams to provide market insights and influence solution development.
  • Build and lead high-performing sales and pre-sales teams, fostering a strong commercial and performance-driven culture.
  • Develop and expand partner ecosystems, including OEMs, system integrators, consulting firms, and funding agencies.
  • Support international market development across regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in utilities, energy, smart grid, smart metering, or digital transformation industries.
  • Proven track record in enterprise software or solution sales, including management of large, complex sales opportunities.
  • Strong experience working with utility customers in India and familiarity with sector-specific procurement and sales cycles.
  • Deep understanding of smart metering, AMI, MDM, CIS, grid analytics, and digital utility platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale sales teams, with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Experience in managing high-value tenders, RFPs, and strategic negotiations.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, deal structuring, and revenue forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills at executive level.
  • Engineering degree required; MBA/PGDM preferred.
  • Ability to operate in a global, cross-functional, and fast-paced environment.
