Position Overview
The Director of Social Services (DSS) is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all clinical staff and functions for the Hospital. Additionally, the DSS oversees the hospital therapeutic activities program.
Job Duties:
1. Oversee the Hospital Social Services Department and the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Social Services.
2. Responsible for the recruitment and hiring for all positions under the Hospital Social Services Department.
3. Ensure that all standards of clinical documentation are upheld based on policies, procedures, and regulations.
4. Maintain positive customer relationships with both internal and external customers and facilitate open lines of communication to best address the needs of the children.
5. Oversee the Complaints and Grievance processes for the Hospital and report to the Corporate Human Rights and Ethics Committee.
6. Coordinate with the Admissions Department regarding the clinical presentation of new admissions, and collaborate with the Utilization Management Department regarding clinical reviews, discharge planning and for any emergent treatment concerns/issues.
7. Maintain fiscal awareness regarding census and budgetary related issues and work closely with Hospital Administration and Hospital Admissions to ensure optimum census management.
8. Provide oversight, guidance, and support for all Pay for Performance initiatives and requirements.
9. Attend all applicable meetings and participate in Hospital and Corporate committees focusing on the clinical services at KidsPeace.
10. Ensure there is continual risk assessment and risk management and monitor the overall clinical response to risk management at the facility level.
11. Develop and participate in audits surrounding the Social Services Department to improve the overall standards of the Hospital program.
12. Participate in licensing and payer inspections to ensure the Social Services Department maintains compliance with all applicable regulations.
13. Oversee, update, and manage all the hospital's clinical polices to ensure they are up-to-date and in line with all applicable regulations.
14. Participate in the Hospital Administrative on-call rotation.
15. Serves as a clinical resource to Hospital Leadership in the development and oversight of evidence-based therapeutic programming, ensuring programming reflects best practices and supports positive outcomes.
16. Maintain professional licensure.
17. All other duties assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with five years' experience or Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC) with 5 years' experience required in order to provide clinical supervision necessary for Social Workers or LPC eligible clinicians to obtain licensure. LCSW approaching the five-year mark will be considered.
2. Minimum two years of direct clinical supervision required.
3. Minimum two years of direct treatment experience with children /adolescents required.
4. Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
5. Must be at least 21 years of age.
6. Valid driver's license.
7. SCM certification, observer status required. SCM Level 1 or 2, strongly preferred. CPR/FA certification required.
