Our Service Department plays an important role in preparing vehicles for sale and supporting the dealership's day-to-day operations.
About the role
GP Motor Company is seeking an Emissions Inspector / Tester to join our Service Department. This role is responsible for performing vehicle emissions inspections accurately and efficiently while following applicable Utah and Davis County testing requirements.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working around a variety of vehicles, and able to follow established testing procedures. This position will also maintain accurate inspection records, properly operate emissions testing equipment, and communicate inspection results to the appropriate Service Department personnel.
What you'll do
- Perform vehicle emissions inspections in accordance with applicable state and county requirements
- Operate emissions testing equipment and related systems properly and safely
- Verify vehicle information before completing inspections
- Accurately enter and maintain emissions inspection records and documentation
- Identify vehicles that pass or fail emissions testing and communicate results to appropriate Service Department personnel
- Follow required emissions testing procedures and compliance standards
- Maintain emissions testing equipment and report equipment or maintenance concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe emissions testing area
- Safely move and operate dealership vehicles as necessary to complete inspections
- Follow company safety procedures and dealership policies
- Assist the Service Department with basic shop-related duties as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current Utah emissions inspection certification or ability to obtain the required certification
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Basic knowledge of automotive systems preferred
- Ability to accurately follow established testing procedures and regulatory requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced automotive environment
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position
- Automotive service and shop environment
- Regular standing and walking throughout the workday
- Frequent entering and exiting of vehicles
- Regular bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching while working around vehicles
- Must be comfortable safely operating passenger vehicles, trucks, and SUVs
- Work environment may include exposure to vehicle exhaust, noise, temperature changes, shop equipment, and moving vehicles
Compensation
$14.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
