Job Description

Description:

Virnig Manufacturing is in search of a CNC Machinist for a producer of steel skid-steer attachments. The CNC Machinist will operate the CNC machines and manual machine tools, including set-ups, in a productive and safe manner to produce steel components that meet Virnig quality standards in a efficient manner, while minimizing waste of materials and resources. Strong communication and interaction skills are needed. Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are essential to develop novel solutions to problems that arise, while organizational skills are necessary to ensure work is done correctly, on time, and properly documented.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machines and occasionally manual machine tools
  • Must read, interpret and understand layouts, job packets and blueprints for components being produced
  • Load and unload materials and parts from machines
  • Measure, examine, and test completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to Virnig quality standards and product specifications
  • Collect, input and test data, which involves use of various tools, gauges and instruments.
  • Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required
  • Perform daily maintenance of machines as required and keep supervisor informed of necessary maintenance beyond operator ability
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Adjust tools and space as needed
  • Work as a team-member to aid all shifts and support personnel to operate to departmental standards including quality and productivity goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Troubleshooting — Determine causes of operating errors and decide how to remedy.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Communication — Ability to effectively communicate ideas (verbal and written) to coworkers and outside parties.
  • Self-Motivated — Be observant and proactive about potential problems. Should be able to manage workload and maintain equipment without direction from a supervisor. Strive for continuous improvement in work processes and procedures.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of and ability to use machines and tools.
  • Equipment Repair and Maintenance — Ability to repair and maintenance machines or systems. Read blueprints, manuals, and parts catalogs when necessary.
  • Safety— Knowledge of applicable safety precautions or procedures required by Virnig Manufacturing, and federal, state, and local governing bodies.
  • Computers — Must have general computer skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in Machine Tool Technology a plus but not required
  • Experience working in a Job Shop or production machining environment, including full set-ups
  • Ability to effectively use basic inspection tools (Calipers, Mics, Gauges, etc.)
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, CNC programs and operational layouts
  • Ability to perform duties under minimum supervision while maintaining quality and performance requirements
  • Able to skillfully drive a forklift
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds

Compensation:

Starting Wage- $25.50/hour

Hours- Monday- Thursday 5am-3:30p with the ability to work Friday's as needed
