You will develop engagement strategies, create scalable ambassador programs, and design grassroots marketing initiatives that connect people with valuable local information. Working across multiple markets, you will combine relationship-building, strategic thinking, and data-driven insights to grow audiences and deepen community connections. This role is ideal for someone who understands local ecosystems, thrives on collaboration, and enjoys creating impact from the ground up.

Accountabilities:

The Community Engagement and Brand Marketing Manager will lead initiatives that increase community visibility, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and drive audience growth through authentic local engagement. This role requires a balance of strategic planning, hands-on execution, and the ability to empower teams with the tools and confidence needed to represent the brand effectively.

  • Map community stakeholders including local organizations, civic groups, business associations, institutions, and community leaders to identify partnership opportunities and engagement strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community partners and develop ongoing outreach plans tailored to different stakeholder groups.
  • Create strategies to connect with important audience segments, including new homeowners, new parents, new residents, and retirees, at moments when local information is most valuable.
  • Design and lead an ambassador program that equips internal teams with practical tools, messaging, and confidence to represent the brand within their communities.
  • Develop playbooks and training resources covering community events, newsletter growth, public presentations, and meaningful brand conversations.
  • Partner with content teams to identify individuals who can build stronger community profiles and increase visibility through authentic engagement.
  • Ensure a consistent brand experience across multiple locations while respecting the unique identity and needs of each community.
  • Plan and execute scalable virtual and in-person events, grassroots campaigns, and audience growth initiatives.
  • Track performance metrics, analyze community engagement results, and adjust strategies based on data and insights.
  • Provide leadership reporting on brand awareness, subscriber growth, partnership activity, and community sentiment.
  • Identify areas with lower awareness or engagement and create targeted plans to strengthen local presence.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced community engagement or brand marketing professional who understands how trust is built through authentic relationships. They should be strategic, resourceful, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with teams across multiple markets.

  • 5+ years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, brand marketing, or related fields.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse community groups, organizations, or partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute campaigns that increase audience growth and engagement.
  • Experience developing training programs, coaching teams, and creating practical resources or playbooks.
  • Strong understanding of how local trust, credibility, and community connections are developed.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence, inspire, and build relationships.
  • Comfortable using data and analytics to measure results, identify trends, and optimize strategies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage cross-functional initiatives.
  • Genuine curiosity about communities, local ecosystems, and how people connect.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to be creative, adaptable, and resourceful.
  • Authentic communication style with strong interpersonal skills and resilience in relationship-building.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Community Development, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in local media, community organizations, local businesses, Ontario markets, digital engagement platforms, newsletters, or subscriber-based models is an asset.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment with travel opportunities across southern and central Ontario.
  • Opportunity to shape a newly created role and define community engagement strategies from the ground up.
  • Meaningful impact by helping strengthen connections between communities and trusted local information sources.
  • Collaborative environment focused on inclusion, growth, and shared success.
  • Opportunity to work with diverse communities and develop innovative grassroots marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to combine strategic planning, relationship-building, and creative execution in a high-impact role.
