Debris Field Monitor

THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position Summary:

We are a leading Disaster Recovery Emergency Management Consulting firm and are growing our team of skilled Debris Monitors. We have an immediate need for Debris Monitors in the Hamilton County, IN area. This position will be responsible for onsite monitoring and observation of debris loading and hauling activities. This is episodic work driven by disaster events.

Essential Job Functions:

The candidate will perform the following essential functions:

Field Duties

  • Act courteously, respectfully, and professionally always with residents, Contractors, County or City officials, and fellow employees and managerial personnel.

  • Report to work on time, check in with Supervisor, and attend staging muster to receive assignments and updated information.

  • Once assigned, proceed to the work zone, or meet with a truck(s) at the designated area.

  • Monitor and observe all loading activities of trucks, bobcats, or other project vehicles as instructed by the Supervisor.

  • Confirm that the hauling contractors are loading only eligible storm-related debris, which is on public rights-of-way or property, and that they are not going on to private property to collect debris.

  • Wear a safety vest and hardhat always while out of the vehicle.

  • Maintain a safe distance from loading operations and report any unsafe conditions or reckless Contractor behavior to your Supervisor.

  • Complete logs accurately and legibly.

  • Record all damages caused by Contractor to private property or public utilities.

  • When trucks are finished for the day, call your Supervisor and report to the designated area. Submit all tickets, logs, and field forms. Brief Supervisor on the day's activities and any issues. Sign out on both the roster and complete timesheet. Have Supervisor verify and sign.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

The candidate should possess the following:

  • Positive, friendly, courteous customer and client skills

  • Good teamwork and cooperation skills

  • Ability to always follow safety protocols and work instructions

  • Ability to pass a drug screen, motor vehicle, and criminal background check

  • Valid State Driver's License

  • Valid Insurance Card proof of liability insurance

  • Possess a reliable and dependable vehicle for following trucks

  • Possess a cellular phone with a charger

  • Ability to climb ladders, trucks, and platforms up to 20 feet

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. throughout the day. [GU1]

  • Ability to work in high temperatures with high humidity for long periods of time

  • Ability to drive and work in areas with disaster and harsh outdoor conditions

  • Ability to follow all Health and Safety guidelines

Education Requirements:

Prefer the candidate possess the following education and experience requirements:

  • Prefer high school degree or GED

  • Prefer prior debris monitoring experience

Work Schedule:

This position requires the following time and staffing commitment:

  • Able to work as early as 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week during response period: around 12 to 14 hours per day

  • Able to work up to 75-80 hours per week as needed during the response period, including weekends
