Accountabilities:
  • Lead the strategy and implementation of global participant payment, reimbursement, and travel services, including sourcing, technology, governance, and operating models.
  • Act as the global subject matter expert for participant payments and travel services, advising study teams and stakeholders on operational, regulatory, financial, and country-specific considerations.
  • Oversee vendor and preferred CRO performance, manage escalations, and ensure effective resolution of issues affecting participant compensation.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve payment processes, systems, tools, quality standards, and operational efficiency.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks at study and country level, translating study data and operational insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Build a patient-centric approach to customer service and issue resolution while ensuring participant experiences remain a priority.
  • Collaborate with clinical operations, business technology, legal, finance, tax, contracting, and other functional teams across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and provide leadership on global strategies, processes, and quality expectations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • More than 8 years of experience in clinical contracts, budget administration, clinical project management, and/or clinical operations, with specific experience managing investigator or participant payments.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical operations, study protocols, recruitment strategies, and the operational requirements of clinical trial execution.
  • In-depth understanding of participant payments, reimbursement, travel services, and applicable local and regional requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with clinical development and pharmaceutical studies, ideally including study or data management leadership.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and the ability to assess payment feasibility within study protocols and operating models.
  • Experience working with payment-processing platforms and translating business needs into system requirements.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation, and vendor management capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret study-level data, identify risks, and make sound recommendations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Patient-centric mindset, empathy, and a genuine commitment to creating positive participant experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and geographic locations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency with spreadsheets, metrics, data flows, and operational reporting.
Benefits:
  • Remote work opportunity based in Brazil.
  • Opportunity to operate in a global clinical development environment with international teams and stakeholders.
  • Senior-level ownership of global participant payment and travel-service processes.
  • Opportunity to influence process improvements, operating models, quality standards, and technology solutions.
