Job Description

Google Ads / Paid Search Strategist (eCommerce)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Google Ads / Paid Search Strategist (eCommerce) based in Australia.

This is a hands-on performance marketing role focused on driving measurable growth for eCommerce brands through sophisticated paid search strategies. You will own a portfolio of client accounts and take responsibility for campaign performance, optimisation, budgets, and commercial outcomes. The role covers the full Google Ads ecosystem, including Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Display, Demand Gen, and Video. You will combine data analysis, experimentation, strategic thinking, and client communication to identify opportunities and scale results. Working alongside experienced strategists and creative specialists, you will have the autonomy to make decisions while continuing to develop your expertise. This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded marketer ready to take greater ownership within a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Accountabilities
  • Manage and optimise Google Ads campaigns across Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Display, Demand Gen, and Video for a portfolio of eCommerce clients.
  • Own day-to-day account performance, including budgets, pacing, monitoring, optimisation, and overall account health.
  • Build and launch campaigns, ad groups, keyword structures, and feed-based Shopping campaigns with a strong focus on accuracy and performance.
  • Conduct keyword research, search-term analysis, keyword management, and ongoing account refinement.
  • Develop and execute A/B tests across ad copy, bidding strategies, audiences, and campaign structures to improve performance.
  • Analyse campaign data and identify actionable opportunities to increase efficiency, profitability, and return on investment.
  • Collaborate with creative and visual teams to brief and align on assets required for paid media campaigns.
  • Prepare clear, insight-driven performance reports and contribute confidently to client communications and strategy discussions.
  • Participate in client calls and internal strategy sessions, taking ownership of account performance and recommendations.
  • Stay informed about Google Ads platform updates, new features, betas, policies, and industry best practices, sharing relevant insights with the wider team.
  • Ensure campaigns comply with advertising policies and resolve ad approval or account-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot tracking and measurement issues and support tag implementation and conversion tracking.
  • Build and maintain product data feeds using tools such as DataFeedWatch and Google Merchant Center.
  • Collaborate with other paid media channels where relevant to develop integrated performance strategies.
Requirements
  • 2–4+ years of hands-on Google Ads experience, preferably within eCommerce and with agency or multi-client experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Search, Shopping, Performance Max, YouTube/Video, and Demand Gen campaigns, including how different campaign types interact within an eCommerce strategy.
  • Experience managing accounts with significant advertising spend and a strong sense of commercial responsibility toward client budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, ask the right questions, and turn insights into action.
  • Experience with campaign testing, bidding strategies, audience segmentation, optimisation, and performance scaling.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with confidence communicating recommendations to clients and participating in client-facing meetings.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and proactively identify opportunities in a remote environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge, communicate concerns early, and contribute beyond individual account responsibilities.
  • Ability to work approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM AEST/AEDT with occasional availability for US business-hour meetings when required by clients.
  • Nice to have: experience with DataFeedWatch, Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking, Meta or TikTok advertising, cross-channel paid media, or Google Ads certifications.
  • Prior experience working with Australian, New Zealand, or US-based eCommerce brands is also advantageous.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation of up to AUD $100,000 per year, including superannuation.
  • Fully remote working arrangement within Australia.
  • Flexible working environment aligned primarily with AEST/AEDT, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
  • Opportunity to work with fast-growing eCommerce brands across sectors such as fashion, health and fitness, and beauty.
  • Collaboration with an experienced, high-performing international performance marketing team.
  • Support, mentorship, and opportunities to expand your Google Ads and eCommerce strategy expertise.
  • Culture focused on innovation, learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Potential bonus opportunities and opportunities for long-term engagement.
  • Exposure to a broad range of Google Ads campaign types, tools, strategies, and emerging platform capabilities.
