JOB OVERVIEW:
The Regional Manager is the manager in charge of Wire 3’s outside plant construction operations across an assigned regional market area. This role is responsible for all aspects of the regional operating unit including project execution, crew productivity, safety compliance, cost containment, subcontractor and vendor relationships, equipment management, and administrative oversight. The Regional Manager reports to the Sr. VP of Construction and leads a team that serves as the face of Wire 3 in the communities we build. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in FTTH OSP construction management and is familiar with business processes including cost containment, accounts payable and receivable, overhead management, and implementation of and adherence to standard operating procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the day-to-day operations of construction projects across the assigned regional market, ensuring project completion timelines are met or exceeded
- Champion safe work practices and implement company safety programs for all subordinates and contractors throughout the region; ensure all work is performed in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and with appropriate safety equipment
- Utilize established company tracking methods and systems to measure and report crew productivity; prepare and submit weekly job progress reports including identification of low-productivity areas and corrective actions
- Build and maintain relationships with local governing agencies, Departments of Public Works, subcontractors, and vendors to support production goals and maintain a solid workflow for operating crews
- Collaborate with the utility locate process to ensure continuous workflow and mitigate downtime for OSP placing crews, including coordination with internal utility locating staff and third-party private locate firms
- Conduct site surveys and prepare proposals for underground-to-aerial placement budgeting as needed; perform quality assurance in the field
- Manage and supervise office administrative and operational management staff including performance appraisals and weekly payroll and equipment reporting for the regional operating unit
- Manage the regional equipment fleet, maximizing utilization and coordinating maintenance; oversee procurement, use, and application of tools and equipment across the region
- Provide documentation, reports, and information to executive management as directed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of FTTH OSP construction methods, workflows, and field operations
- Proven ability to manage and hold accountable distributed construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors across a regional market
- Experience with crew productivity tracking systems and construction progress reporting
- Familiarity with utility locate processes and coordination with locate firms and governing agencies
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities
- Experience with cost containment, overhead management, and basic accounts payable and receivable processes
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in outside plant construction, telecom infrastructure, or fiber network deployment required
- Prior regional or area management experience overseeing construction crews and subcontractors required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This is a field-based role assigned to the Brevard and St. Lucie County market area in Florida
- Regular travel within the assigned region required; minimal overnight travel expected
- Frequent time outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and traversing active job sites required
