This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering professional to oversee engineering operations supporting complex heavy industrial projects. The role combines technical leadership, people management, operational planning, and customer engagement across a geographically distributed organization. You will guide electrical engineering teams, establish standards and processes, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. The position also provides opportunities to contribute to business development, technical proposals, and high-visibility projects. You will help shape talent development, resource planning, and the adoption of modern engineering tools and workflows. Success in this role requires strong industrial engineering expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to lead teams through growth and change.
- Lead and oversee all activities across the electrical engineering departments, including scheduling, resource allocation, technical direction, project execution, and quality review.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a trusted engineering resource for customers, business development initiatives, project managers, and other discipline leaders.
- Build and maintain high-performing engineering teams by identifying staffing needs, participating in recruitment, onboarding new employees, setting performance expectations, and conducting reviews.
- Establish operational plans, procedures, standards, and technical practices that support consistent delivery, scalability, productivity, and continued growth of engineering capabilities.
- Develop training and career-development plans for team members while identifying opportunities to strengthen technical skills and leadership capabilities.
- Maintain current engineering codes, standards, specifications, design practices, software, digital tools, and industry best practices, identifying opportunities to improve project efficiency, quality, cost competitiveness, and scalability.
- Supervise and review engineering proposals, including scopes of work, project schedules, resource requirements, and cost estimates.
- Contribute technical and managerial expertise to high-visibility projects and provide guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
- Review project and department financial performance, identify potential risks or variances, and support mitigation and corrective-action plans.
- Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, training, compliance reviews, audits, and site-based safety activities.
- Collaborate with engineering managers, project managers, business unit leaders, and other technical disciplines to coordinate resources and deliver project objectives.
- Ensure department and project activities comply with established quality management systems, policies, procedures, and engineering practices.
- Support resource development and work-sharing initiatives with high-value engineering centers and distributed teams.
- Travel domestically on an occasional basis to support customers, teams, and project requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 15 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a consulting environment and involving heavy industrial projects such as oil and gas, chemicals, steel, or power generation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing electrical engineering and design teams within a consulting engineering environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience developing engineering resources and implementing work-share models with high-value engineering centers.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering and design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, SKM, and ETAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, enterprise design and business applications, and document control systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering practices, technical standards, and project delivery requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, engineers, project managers, and business leaders.
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed, and multidisciplinary environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically when required.
- Annual salary range of $150,000–$230,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
