Class A CDL Route Driver

Location: Selma, California
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday | Approximately 10–12 hours per day
Travel: Overnight travel and two- to three-day layovers required

Position Summary

Denali Water Solutions is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Class A CDL Route Driver to support our Retail Depack operation. This position services retail customer locations along assigned regional routes, collecting and transporting materials while providing professional customer service and complying with all DOT and company safety requirements.

Drivers will complete approximately 10–15 customer stops per day and service three-yard bins using assigned trucks, trailers, and collection equipment. This position requires overnight travel, including two- to three-day layovers, depending on route and operational needs.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing a multi-stop route, communicating with retail customers, and operating safely during extended regional trips.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness, sound judgment, and diligence. Employees are responsible for protecting their own safety and the safety of customers, coworkers, and the public.

Schedule and Route Information
  • Tuesday through Saturday schedule.
  • Average shift of approximately 10–12 hours per day.
  • Complete approximately 10–15 retail customer stops each day.
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Must be able and willing to complete two- to three-day layovers as needed.
  • Schedule and route length may vary according to customer and operational requirements.
  • Additional flexibility may be required during emergencies, holidays, or unexpected service needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Service retail customers along assigned regional routes.
  • Complete approximately 10–15 customer stops per day safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver, collect, exchange, and service three-yard bins at retail locations.
  • Safely operate the equipment used to lift, tip, empty, and transport bins.
  • Confirm that bins and collected materials are properly secured before transportation.
  • Complete overnight routes and two- to three-day layovers as assigned.
  • Provide courteous, professional service during every customer interaction.
  • Communicate service concerns, access issues, delays, or missed stops to dispatch and management.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks, trailers, and collection equipment.
  • Inspect tires, brakes, lights, hydraulic systems, safety equipment, and other critical vehicle components.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, ELD records, route paperwork, inspection reports, and customer-service documentation.
  • Follow Hours of Service requirements and all applicable DOT regulations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic condition of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Identify and report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, spills, accidents, injuries, and safety hazards immediately.
  • Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.
  • Follow all company, customer, environmental, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Perform other driving or operational duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Current DOT Medical Card.
  • One to two years of commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and stable employment history.
  • Ability to operate manual- and automatic-transmission commercial vehicles.
  • Ability and willingness to work Tuesday through Saturday for approximately 10–12 hours per day.
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight and complete two- to three-day layovers.
  • Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a multi-stop route.
  • Basic proficiency with smartphones, ELDs, GPS applications, and electronic route documentation.
  • Ability to read maps, follow route instructions, and adjust to changing traffic or customer conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous route-driving experience servicing retail or commercial customers.
  • Experience completing 10 or more customer stops per day.
  • Experience operating bin-tipping systems, hydraulic controls, or waste and recycling collection equipment.
  • Experience transporting food waste, organic materials, or recyclable products.
  • Experience using Electronic Logging Devices.
  • Waste, recycling, environmental services, logistics, or transportation-industry experience.
  • Experience completing overnight regional routes and multi-day layovers.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Regularly lift, push, pull, or move up to 50–70 pounds.
  • Frequently climb into and out of trucks and equipment throughout the shift.
  • Regularly bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, and pull.
  • Safely operate equipment and handle bins at multiple customer locations.
  • Sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and other changing weather conditions.
  • Work around retail receiving areas, loading docks, traffic, moving equipment, waste materials, and uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Remain alert and focused during extended shifts and overnight regional routes.
