Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Accounting Manager based in India.
As a Sr. Accounting Manager, you will own and strengthen the core accounting infrastructure of a fast-growing, global technology organization. You will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP close while overseeing consolidation, revenue recognition, reporting, and audit activities. The role combines technical accounting expertise with hands-on operational leadership and systems ownership. You will help build scalable processes, strengthen controls, and modernize financial workflows through automation and AI. Working within a lean finance organization, you will develop people and systems rather than relying on additional layers of headcount. You will partner with teams across the business and contribute directly to accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making. This is an opportunity for an ambitious accounting leader to expand their scope and build toward broader finance leadership.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring a disciplined, accurate, timely, and increasingly efficient GAAP close process.
- Lead global consolidation across multiple legal entities, currencies, and jurisdictions, including intercompany accounting and eliminations.
- Manage advanced and technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, complex transactions, accounting policies, and U.S. GAAP interpretation.
- Prepare and review internal and external financial reporting, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
- Lead the evolution of accounting systems, ERP integrations, and financial data architecture to reduce manual work and improve controls, visibility, and scalability.
- Partner with People Operations on global payroll processes, reconciliations, controls, accounting, and coordination across payroll providers and entities.
- Oversee finance administration activities, including banking, treasury administration, entity support, expenses, vendors, documentation, and related operational workflows.
- Lead the annual external financial statement audit, ensuring audit readiness, preparing supporting schedules and technical documentation, and managing auditor relationships.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, controls, and documentation appropriate for a growing global organization.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure financial reporting accurately reflects business performance and supports effective decision-making.
- Identify and proactively address accounting, financial, systems, and process risks before they become larger operational issues.
- Lead and develop a lean accounting team, increasing capability through automation, clear standards, strong ownership, and scalable systems rather than primarily through additional headcount.
- Active CPA certification is required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant ownership of financial close, consolidation, reporting, and technical accounting.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with the ability to independently research, interpret, and resolve complex accounting matters.
- Previous experience in a post-Series B or later-stage, high-growth technology company.
- Strong experience with global entities, multi-entity consolidation, intercompany transactions, and international accounting operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in revenue recognition and other advanced accounting topics relevant to SaaS or technology businesses.
- Proven experience leading annual external audits and maintaining audit readiness.
- Strong understanding of accounting systems, ERP environments, integrations, and financial data flows.
- Highly technical and AI-savvy, with demonstrated success using automation and technology to improve finance operations.
- Experience partnering with People Operations on payroll, ideally across multiple countries or payroll providers.
- Experience managing, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals in a lean operating environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to move comfortably between strategic priorities, technical accounting questions, systems architecture, and hands-on execution.
- Comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes and infrastructure are still being built and improved.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work U.S. business hours.
- Remote position based in India, with preference for candidates located in Mumbai or Bangalore.
- Remote work opportunity from India.
- Flexible environment designed for high-impact, independent work.
- Opportunity to work within a lean, globally distributed finance organization.
- Significant exposure to complex accounting, global operations, technology, automation, and AI-driven finance transformation.
- Career growth opportunities toward broader finance leadership.
- Opportunity to build scalable accounting infrastructure and directly influence the evolution of the finance function.
- Inclusive and collaborative work environment.
- Equal employment opportunity regardless of protected characteristics.
