The Corporate Health & Safety Manager will work closely with the VP of Health & Safety, operational leadership, and field teams to ensure company H&S standards are practical, effective, and consistently carried out in the field.

The position requires a significant combination of field work and H&S documentation review and analysis. The balance will vary based on regional operations, client requirements, project activity, and company needs.

This is not a remote position. The Corporate Health & Safety Manager must work regularly from their designated Earth Systems office and travel to company offices across the country, project sites, and client locations. Travel may include day trips, overnight stays, and multi-state travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the VP of Health & Safety to maintain and strengthen a robust, proactive H&S culture across the company.

  • Work directly with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and field leadership to ensure required H&S documentation, including JSAs, Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) observations, Near Miss reports, inspections, and other safety documentation, is properly completed and submitted to the H&S Department.
  • Review and analyze field documentation and H&S data to identify trends, deficiencies, recurring concerns, and corrective action needs.
  • Develop, review, and support Health & Safety Plans (HASPs), JSAs/JHAs, exposure assessments, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate controls, PPE, safe work practices, and corrective actions.
  • Support subcontractor H&S prequalification, safety reviews, and field compliance.
  • Maintain and support emergency response and preparedness procedures for offices and field operations.
  • Promote Stop Work Authority, proactive hazard identification, employee accountability, and timely reporting of safety concerns.
  • Maintain a working understanding of DOT-related health and safety requirements and driver safety, supporting and collaborating with the Transportation Manager as needed.
  • Manage company H&S compliance information and requirements within ISNetworld and Veriforce, including documentation, statistics, policies, training records, questionnaires, audits, and client requirements.
  • Develop, coordinate, maintain, and track required employee H&S training programs, certifications, expiration dates, and refresher requirements.
  • Conduct or coordinate H&S training, including HAZWOPER, PPE, Hazard Communication, respiratory protection, field safety, and other required programs.
  • Develop, manage, and lead monthly company-wide H&S meetings, including safety topics, presentations, follow-up items, and documentation.
  • Lead the H&S portion of new hire onboarding and orientation and ensure employees complete applicable safety requirements before beginning field or safety-sensitive work.
  • Support employee field readiness, including PPE, applicable medical surveillance, training, and project-specific H&S requirements.
  • Lead and support investigations involving workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, near misses, property damage, and other H&S events.
  • Perform or facilitate root-cause analyses, establish corrective and preventive actions, and track actions through completion.
  • Maintain required OSHA injury and illness records and support applicable reporting requirements.
  • Monitor H&S performance using leading and lagging indicators, incident trends, safety observations, training compliance, and corrective action data.
  • Support client and regulatory H&S audits and maintain current knowledge of applicable H&S regulations and industry standards.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Transportation, Operations Managers, Project Managers, and company leadership on training, incident response, compliance, corrective actions, and company-wide H&S initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
