Job Description

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
This position is responsible for overall administrative and clinical functions necessary to support the effective day-to-day operations of the PCOT office. This position is responsible for understanding all aspects of the practice including: triage, scheduling, patient flow, EMR optimization, utilization review and provider relationships. In addition, the Practice Specialist manages other assignments related to the revenue cycle of multiple services in the department. They must possess flexibility, attention to detail, and independent problem solving and is required to communicate problems or issues in a timely manner to the appropriate senior team member. S/he must work to ensure all responsibilities are exercised with diligence, care, and integrity. S/he may be called upon to provide cross coverage, when necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Five years of behavioral health acute care or physician office administrative experience preferred.
-
Behavioral health billing and charge entry experience preferred.
-
Experience with BH Insurance and the appeals process preferred.
-
Computer/data entry experience required.
-

Education and Training:
-
High school diploma required.
-
Associate degree in business preferred.
-
Medical Terminology preferred.
-
Advanced business or financial coursework required. Relevant experience may be used in lieu of this requirement.

License, Certification & Registration:

Other Requirements:
-
Strong organizational skills.
-
Excellent verbal, written, communication, and analytical skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with sensitivity to patient issues, including highest respect for patient confidentiality.

Knowledge of Expanse and/or proficiency with EMR preferred.
-
Knowledge of ICD-10 codes, preferred.
-
Knowledge of commercial behavioral carve-outs, CMS, and Medicaid billing required.
