Position Summary
Jersey Mike’s is building a Strategy & Growth function accountable for the sales channels our growth strategy depends on. As Director, Growth Strategy, you will own two priority growth channels. Delivery: growing our 1st-party business and strengthening the economics of one of our largest sales channels, and Catering: building an underdeveloped channel into a meaningful contributor to system sales.
This is an end-to-end commercial ownership role, not an advisory one: you will develop the strategy, build the business case, and lead cross-functional execution through to measurable results across a 3,000+ location franchise system. The role offers direct exposure to the senior leadership team and a clear growth path as the function scales. In addition to the channel portfolio, you will support the Corporate Strategy team with high-priority strategic projects for senior leadership, as bandwidth allows.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery:
- Own the delivery channel: grow 1st-party delivery mix and strengthen channel economics across 1st- and 3rd-party
- Drive the 1st-party (white-label) experience and roadmap (UX, ordering friction, and conversion) in partnership with Technology and Marketing
- Manage 3rd-party marketplace relationships and strategy: commercial performance, franchise owner economics, and promotional initiatives (with Marketing)
- Own channel economics reporting with Finance: commissions, incrementality, and profitability by channel
Catering:
- Own the catering channel end to end: current-state review of offering, process, and store / customer experience; channel strategy (offering, operating model, targets); and phased growth rollout across the system
- Set and manage channel baselines, participation targets, and sales goals in partnership with Finance
- Lead field activation with franchisees and Ops to drive adoption, building the business case for system-wide adoption
Strategic Projects & Leadership Support:
- Evaluate and develop future channel expansion opportunities as the portfolio matures
- Flex to support high-priority initiatives across the growth portfolio — digital, menu innovation commercialization, and ad-hoc projects for the senior leadership team
- Build board- and SLT-ready analyses, business cases, and recommendations; contribute to annual strategic planning
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years in strategy and commercial roles: management consulting, corporate strategy, growth / category management, or general management
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a commercial strategy from analysis and business case through execution to measurable results
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; fluency in unit economics and channel P&L thinking
- Proven cross-functional leadership without direct authority; able to mobilize Marketing, Operations, Technology, Finance, and Supply Chain around a shared plan
- Strategic thinking paired with a bias for execution. Comfortable moving between the boardroom and the field
- Willingness to travel and spend time in restaurants and franchisee markets, as needed
Preferred
- Experience in franchise, multi-unit restaurant, or retail food environments
- Digital ordering / delivery channel experience: channel economics, marketplace partnerships, or off-premise growth in a multi-unit setting
- Field marketing activation experience, driving local adoption of programs through operators or franchisees
