Job Description
PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Lead Barista supports leadership of Zinnia Cafe operations by guiding baristas, maintaining beverage quality, supporting inventory and ensuring the cafe reflects Holbrook hospitality standards and We Proudly Serve Starbucks expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead scheduled cafe shifts by setting a positive example, assigning tasks and maintaining service flow.
• Train baristas on beverage recipes, TOAST use, resident charges, service standards, cleaning routines and product presentation.
• Support We Proudly Serve Starbucks standards including recipe consistency, merchandising, labeling, product handling and guest-facing presentation.
• Maintain inventory levels for coffee, tea, milk, syrups, paper goods, retail products, PATH water and grab-and-go items; communicate ordering needs promptly.
• Monitor daily opening and closing checklists, equipment cleanliness, display quality, station organization and side work completion.
• Respond professionally to resident and guest concerns and communicate trends to leadership.
• Ensure food safety, allergen awareness, sanitation, temperature control and equipment safety standards are consistently followed.
• Support cafe promotions, mobile order awareness where applicable, events and special community programming.
• Provide feedback to leadership on team performance, training needs and operational opportunities.
• Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, polished appearance and professional communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior barista, cafe, restaurant or hospitality experience required; lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• POS experience required; TOAST experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, coaching, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to train others and maintain standards during high-volume periods.
• ServSafe or Food Handler certification preferred or required as directed by local regulation.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to walk, sit, stand, reach, bend and stoop frequently.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. as business needs require.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
