AquaFire is expanding in the Wellington region, and we're looking for a motivated, customerfocused Fire Equipment Technician to support our fire protection operations. This is a handson role where you'll work independently and as part of a team to deliver safe, compliant, and highquality fire protection services.

Aquaheat New Zealand is one of New Zealand's most respected HVAC and mechanical project contractors. Alongside our core business, we operate several specialist divisions including AquaFire (fire protection solutions), Colt (louvre and smoke control systems), and Classic Metal (roofing and cladding solutions).
With over 70 years' experience, we deliver end-to-end solutions across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. From heating, cooling, and ventilation to fire protection and roofing, we design, install, and maintain systems that help keep New Zealand running.

About the Role
  • Install, service, test, and maintain fire protection equipment and systems
  • Carry out planned maintenance, reactive servicing, and remedial work
  • Work across fire alarm equipment, fire protection components, and related systems
  • Identify risks and report remedial works arising from inspections
  • Coordinate activities to meet site requirements and client programmes
  • Maintain accurate job sheets, documentation, and asbuilt records
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and wider fire protection team
  • Ensure all work meets NZ Standards, company guidelines, and safety requirements
  • Support afterhours work when required as part of a rotating roster
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, customers, and the public

About You

You bring:

  • Experience in fire protection, fire equipment servicing, or a related trade
  • Knowledge of fire alarm or fire protection installation practices
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Strong communication skills and a customerfocused approach
  • Ability to read plans, follow specifications, and complete documentation accurately
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support team goals
  • Current NZ Driver Licence
