General Description:
Tolin Mechanical, an established, well recognized and respected HVAC service contractor, is looking for a Virtual Design and Construction Assistant to join our Denver Branch. We are seeking a candidate who meets the qualifications listed below.
The VDC Assistant will play a pivotal role in helping the VDC Coordinator with enhancing our pre-fabrication capabilities, creating a more efficient process for our Projects Team.
Summary of Job Functions:
Standards and Process Improvement:
• Assist in identifying and procuring software and other tools needed to operate an effective VDC program for MEP retrofit/replacement projects.
• Assist in developing and maintaining drafting templates and standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in pre-fabrication shop, and field installations.
• Identify industry drafting best practices and standards, and assist VDC Coordinator in quality checks to ensure shop drawings and as-built drawings produced by Tolin meet those standards.
Drafting and Design:
• Develop as-built models of existing project locations using 3D scanning tools and software.
• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D fabrication drawings for piping systems using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.).
• Develop isometric, spool, and layout drawings for fabrication and installation.
• Modify client provided engineering drawings to as-built conditions for project close out documentation.
• Update internal drawings and models to reflect as-built conditions upon project completion.
Collaboration and Coordination:
• Coordinate with VDC Coordinator and external project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems within multidisciplinary models.
• Facilitate clash detection and resolution processes to identify and mitigate installation conflicts early in the project.
• Collaborate with Shop Supervisor and Field Supervisors to ensure seamless integration of prefabricated piping assemblies into overall project design and installation.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and shop personnel to clarify design details and resolve issues.
Quality Control and Documentation:
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Ensure all drawings and models are up-to-date and available to field installers via the appropriate project files online.
• Maintain an organized database of drawings and documentation.
Working Conditions:
• Office-based with periodic site visits as required.
• May require extended hours during critical project phases.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Capability to navigate construction sites and inspect mechanical installations when necessary.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, stretch, crouch, kneel, and reach to access work spaces.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
Compensation & Benefits:
Average Starting Salary: $75,000-$85,000 annually. Combined experience, education, skills and knowledge will be taken into consideration.

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
3 years of relevant industry experience with CADD
Values and displays exceptional customer service
Strong organization skills
Experience in HVAC, construction, engineering, or related industry
Experience and demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal departments, vendors, and customers
Minimum Qualifications:
Over 18 years of age
High School diploma or GED
Strong written and verbal English skills
Valid driver's license with driving record in good standing
