Job Description
The Production Lead assists in the production of custom-built heavy-duty service bodies, lubrication bodies, and service body cranes in accordance with the production schedule. This position works with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong focus on departmental objectives and the Company's mission. The Production Lead demonstrates proficiency in all operations within the assigned department and provides technical guidance, leadership, and support to production employees.
Essential Job Responsibilities- Assist the Production Supervisor in coordinating departmental workflow, production scheduling, and monitoring productivity within assigned work cells.
- Manage schedules, materials, personnel, and attend production-related meetings in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely set up, operate, and troubleshoot all equipment and machinery within the assigned department while maintaining extensive knowledge of departmental processes and procedures.
- Train, mentor, and support Production Workers and Production Technicians by providing technical guidance, resolving work-related issues, and reinforcing quality workmanship through a "do it right the first time" philosophy.
- Help interpret Company policies and consistently enforce all safety rules, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.
- Assist with maintaining timekeeping and production records as required. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Consistently meet or exceed established quality standards and demonstrate leadership by promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain adequate inventories of consumables, service parts, tooling, and cutting machine supplies necessary to support production operations.
- Follow all Company policies, departmental procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards as outlined in the Maintainer Employee Handbook and Quality Manual.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education and Experience- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
- Four to five (4–5) years of related manufacturing experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to interpret written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in standardized work environments.
- Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers while demonstrating professionalism and leadership.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages, area, volume, and measurements.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, dimensional drawings, and using precision measuring tools such as tape measures and squares.
- Working knowledge of basic algebra, geometry, and statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, teach technical skills, maintain equipment, produce high-quality work, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- General understanding of customer and supplier relationships and the overall manufacturing process.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow moderately complex instructions, correspondence, and technical documentation.
- Ability to prepare written correspondence and documentation as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals and small groups.
- Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, tact, and strong interpersonal skills while working in a team environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use hands and fingers to handle tools, materials, and equipment.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Talk and hear effectively.
The employee must also be able to:
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, squat, sit, and work in these positions as required.
- Work near moving mechanical equipment.
- Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, and other manufacturing-related environmental conditions.
Specific vision requirements include:

- Maintain a valid Forklift Operator Certification.
- Successfully complete annual overhead crane and hoist safety training.
In the absence of the Production Supervisor, this position provides direct supervision of Production Specialists and Production Technicians in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities may include:
- Training and coaching employees.
- Planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Monitoring productivity and quality.
- Recommending wage adjustments and performance improvements.
- Addressing employee concerns and assisting with conflict resolution.
- Supporting corrective action and employee development as needed.
