Registry MRI Technologist
General Summary:
The MRI Technologist is to provide safe, quality, patient care on a timely basis. Caregiver will provide quality MRI imaging utilizing appropriate coils patient cooperation for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist. Prepare and operate MRI equipment, screen all patients and personnel entering MRI unit, position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic image. Provide MRI safety screening and education. Fulfill all obligations in establishing American College of Radiology MRI Accreditation.
The MRI Registry Technologist is responsible for front line patient care while providing safe, quality MRI imaging. Registry Technologist ensures compliance with State of Illinois regulatory standards as applicable to MRI and American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation safety standards. The Registry technologist is responsible for providing MRI procedures and service in accordance with department policy and procedure. Registry Technologists provides all patient exams including ER, Out-patient and In-patient. Provides patients with explanation of procedure, properly preps patients as appropriate, and administers IV injectable contrast media as required. Registry is required to perform duties within the team and be able to function independently as needed and ensure daily reconciliation of Open Order and Taken Status Reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education and/or licensure requirements:
- Associates Degree from an accredited College – Required
- Registered as an MRI Technologist by the ARRT (MRI) – Required
- CPR certification – Required
- Accredited in Medical Radiography by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency – Preferred
- Compliant with PPD requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 1 years of experience as an MRI Technologist -Required
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to perform effective verbal communication
- Ability to work across all service lines and partner with key customers
- Develop a strong rapport with all patient care units and patients
Analytical Abilities:
- Ability to identify pathology and communicate appropriately
- Operate computers and imaging equipment. Ability to change parameters based on assessment, to ensure quality imaging/service.
- Monitor quality indicators and implement changes to ensure quality service.
