Director Business Development, Value and Access

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director Business Development, Value and Access based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic growth by helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations solve complex market access, pricing, and value challenges.
You will lead business development efforts focused on expanding enterprise relationships and positioning innovative consulting solutions for industry leaders.
The position combines deep life sciences expertise, consultative selling, and executive-level relationship building.
You will collaborate with scientific, strategy, and delivery teams to create high-impact solutions that address critical client priorities.

Accountabilities:

The Director Business Development, Value and Access is responsible for generating new business, expanding strategic accounts, and positioning value-driven solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. This role requires strong industry expertise, consultative sales capabilities, and the ability to manage complex enterprise opportunities.

  • Drive business development activities by positioning value, access, pricing, and evidence solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities through a consultative, solution-oriented sales approach.
  • Expand existing client relationships by identifying opportunities linked to new products, indications, business units, and strategic initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across market access, value, evidence, pricing, and related functions.
  • Partner with internal scientific, strategy, creative, innovation, and delivery teams to develop differentiated client solutions and proposals.
  • Act as a commercial subject matter expert, clearly communicating solution value and business impact during client engagements.
  • Execute go-to-market strategies across offerings including pricing strategy, market access analytics, payer engagement, forecasting, contracting strategy, and launch readiness.
  • Collaborate with marketing, client services, sales operations, and leadership teams to align messaging, priorities, and growth initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, opportunity tracking, and CRM data quality.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, pricing discussions, and solution scoping to support profitable and sustainable engagements.
  • Ensure smooth transitions from business development activities to delivery teams.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, client meetings, and external events as a senior commercial ambassador.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive business development experience within life sciences, strong knowledge of market access and value functions, and a proven ability to drive enterprise revenue growth.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, consulting sales, or commercial roles focused on value and evidence services for pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding revenue targets, including experience managing multi-million-dollar sales opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical market access, pricing, evidence generation, and value strategy functions.
  • Strong relationships and experience engaging senior pharma stakeholders responsible for selecting advisory and consulting partners.
  • Demonstrated success selling complex, high-value solutions through consultative and strategic sales approaches.
  • Ability to operate effectively in matrixed environments involving scientific, operational, commercial, and technical teams.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to translate complex industry challenges into compelling business solutions.
  • Experience managing enterprise sales pipelines, forecasting, and commercial performance metrics.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
