Position Overview:

We’re hiring an Engineering Director to lead a team of 10–20 engineers building scalable, production-grade SaaS platforms that serve customers across web and mobile. This is a newly created role reporting to the SVP of Engineering. It combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight—you’ll set direction, elevate engineering standards, and drive delivery. This is a hybrid role based in our Markham, Ontario office. Delivery: the team consistently ships on commitments against the product roadmap Modernization: meaningful progress moving the platform off legacy patterns toward a modern, cloud-native architecture Velocity: measurable increase in delivery speed (cycle time, deploy frequency, lead time for change) Usability & UX: measurable improvements in usability, performance, and customer satisfaction across web and mobile experiences Engineering Excellence: best practices instilled across the team, including code review, testing, CI/CD, observability, and on-call discipline

Leadership & Team Building: Lead and grow a team of 10 to 20 engineers across North America and India, fostering a high performance collaborative culture across time zones. Technical Leadership: Own architecture and system design across the full stack, from responsive web and mobile front ends to complex, distributed systems on AWS. Stay close enough to the code to make sharp technical calls and mentor engineers on craft. Cross-Functional Impact: Partner with product, design, and business leaders to translate strategy into technical roadmap, with a shared focus on usability and customer experience. Drive alignment across teams and influence technical strategy. Delivery & Execution: Own delivery against the product and platform roadmap. Improve engineering velocity through process, tooling and best practice. Engineering Excellence: Raise the bar on code quality, testing, and operational excellence. Build strong observability and incident response practice. Leverage modern AI tools to improve productivity and quality.

What You’ll BringMinimum Qualifications

At least 7 years of software development experience, with 3+ years leading a team. This includes hiring, performance management, and developing senior engineersDeep technical background in Java and Angular (or a comparable modern frontend framework such as React or Vue), with a strong sense for building responsive, usable web and mobile front endsExperience building cross-platform mobile applications with Flutter, delivered across Android and iOSExperience with Oracle, Postgres, or similar relational databases, including schema design, performance tuning, and the hard partsWorking experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra) and a clear sense of when to reach for themProduction AWS experience across computer, networking, and data servicesAbility to comprehend and contribute to systems design, including scalability, reliability, trade-offs, and failure modesDemonstrable use of AI tools in the software development lifecycle, such as coding assistants, agentic workflows, code review, and test generation. You should be able to show concretely how you and your teams ship faster and better with AI

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multi-region AWS deployments and delivering customer-facing SaaS products across web and mobile.

Education

BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full-time, permanent position. This is a hybrid role based in our Markham, Ontario office, with a typical expectation of two to three days per week on-site.

CompensationGood faith annual salary range for this position is $190,000 to $200,000 CAD and is commensurate with experience and location.

The performance of additional responsibilities if you are designated as a Data Protection Champion (DPC), Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) or Information Assurance Accounting Officer (IAAO).

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
