APSWs work with adults living with developmental disabilities to live as independently, safely, and securely as possible in their community. An APSW ensures that the individuals support plan addresses the holistic nature of each persons life and is focused on their dreams, desires, and aspirations. Support is provided in alignment with KACL values, vision, and mission, and creates conditions where people feel safe, empowered to make their own choices, experience a sense of belonging, and have opportunities to thrive.

- Advocate to ensure the rights of adults with developmental disabilities are respected.
- Advocate for the appropriate role of KACL in cross sector interactions and meetings.
- Provide skills assessment, planning, communication, education, resource management and service coordination.
