Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) under the Business Process and Information Management Branch (BPIMB) ServiceNow Support Services (SNSS) program.

In this role, you will design, develop, test, and enhance ServiceNow applications, workflows, integrations, and platform capabilities that support NIAID's mission. You will analyze functional requirements, translate design specifications into high quality software, develop flow diagrams, implement solutions, perform debugging, and prepare user and program documentation.

This position requires strong hands-on ServiceNow development experience, solid scripting skills, and the ability to deliver complex software that meets design objectives in a large enterprise environment.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Analyze functional business requirements for ServiceNow modules including ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, SecOps, Vulnerability Response, and custom applications.
  • Translate functional and technical specifications into ServiceNow configuration and custom development solutions.
  • Develop logic flow diagrams, workflow designs, data maps, process flows, and detailed technical documentation.
  • Build and enhance ServiceNow components such as script includes, business rules, client scripts, UI actions, UI policies, Flow Designer flows, Integration Hub actions, catalog items, and custom applications.
  • Test, debug, and refine ServiceNow solutions to ensure quality, performance, and alignment with requirements.
  • Develop and maintain both program level and user level documentation for supported applications.
  • Enhance software to improve efficiency, reduce operating time, and support continual service improvement objectives.
  • Ensure developed solutions comply with NIAID and NIH architecture standards, accessibility requirements, security controls, and configuration governance processes.
  • Provide technical direction to team members to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in sprint activities, design reviews, code reviews, release readiness checkpoints, and other lifecycle processes.
  • Support integration development with enterprise tools using REST, SOAP, and MID Server patterns.
  • Work closely with architects, administrators, analysts, and federal stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure successful implementation.


Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
  • 6 or more years of experience in ServiceNow application programming, software development, or information systems design in a large computer-based environment.
  • Active ServiceNow certification, such as CSA, CAD, CIS - ITSM, SecOps, VR.
  • Advanced hands-on ServiceNow development experience, including configuration, scripting, workflow development, or custom application creation.
  • Strong scripting skills including JavaScript used within ServiceNow.
  • Experience building and testing ServiceNow components such as business rules, client scripts, script includes, workflows, catalog items, integration components, and data transformations.
  • Experience debugging software, resolving defects, and refining solutions for optimal performance.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, user documentation, program documentation, and release materials.
  • Experience working with relational databases or large-scale DBMS concepts.
  • Experience developing complex software to satisfy detailed design specifications.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and structured release management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NIH Public Trust.


Desired Skills:
  • Experience developing integrations with enterprise systems using REST, SOAP, or MID Servers.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Flow Designer or Integration Hub.
  • Experience developing ServiceNow reporting, dashboards, and Performance Analytics widgets.
  • Familiarity with SecOps, VR, CMDB modeling, discovery patterns, or service mapping.
  • Experience supporting federal health IT or NIH environments.
  • Experience with source control tools and CI/CD practices for ServiceNow.

The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
