Accounting Professional with Construction focus in Dallas, Texas at 8020 Consulting

The Opportunity8020 Consulting is seeking a strong Accounting Professional (Manager or above) to join our growing Dallas-Fort Worth team. This opportunity is ideal for someone who combines deep accounting expertise with construction industry experience and strong systems, ERP, and implementation capabilities.
As a full-time consultant, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, private equity sponsors, and executive leadership teams, helping clients solve complex accounting, finance, and operational challenges.
The ideal candidate is someone who can step into an organization, quickly understand its accounting environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead both the accounting function and the systems/process transformation needed to support growth.

• Serving as an interim Controller or senior accounting leader for a growing construction or project-based organization
• Leading accounting transformations for construction, engineering, contracting, and other project-driven businesses
• Improving month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting processes across multi-entity organizations
• Strengthening job costing, WIP, project accounting, and financial reporting processes
• Leading ERP implementations, accounting system conversions, and finance technology initiatives
• Evaluating existing accounting systems and recommending improvements, integrations, and automation opportunities
• Managing system implementations from requirements gathering and vendor selection through configuration, testing, data migration, training, and go-live
• Standardizing accounting processes and controls across multiple entities, business units, or projects
• Supporting acquisitions, integrations, and carve-outs, including accounting system and process integration
• Partnering with operations and project teams to improve financial visibility, reporting, and business processes
• Advising CFOs and executive leadership on accounting operations, systems strategy, process improvement, and scalability

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with experience at the Manager, Senior Manager, Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar level
• Significant construction industry experience required, preferably within construction, general contracting, specialty contracting, engineering, or other project-based businesses
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP, project accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams and partnering with operational and executive leadership
• Strong ERP/accounting systems experience, with the ability to evaluate systems, identify gaps, and drive improvements
• Proven experience with ERP implementations, accounting system conversions, integrations, or major system upgrades
• Experience leading or supporting finance and accounting process improvement and transformation initiatives
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations
• Ability to work hands-on in complex or evolving environments and quickly establish structure, processes, and priorities
• Strong analytical, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
• CPA or other relevant professional designation preferred, but not required
