Job Description

Sr. Web & UI Designer

Location: Fully Remote (EST–PST overlap required)
Availability: Contract (16–24 hours per week depending on project load)
Reports to: Associate Creative Director, Managing Partner
Focus: High-Fidelity UI Design, Design Systems, Prototypes, Dev-Ready Handoff

We're looking for a meticulous, execution-focused designer to take our web and product designs from high-fidelity concept to a flawless, dev-ready handoff.

This role sits downstream of strategy. You're the person who makes sure nothing falls apart between design and build. It requires precision, obsessive attention to detail, and the discipline to think through every state, every edge case, and every interaction. You will also be leading original work on deck designs and tech-forward brands.

You'll work closely with our design leads, writers, and strategists to take approved directions and carry them all the way to the finish line: fully specced, fully systemized, and fully ready for engineering to implement without guesswork. Our clients are primarily VC firms and tech startups (early-stage through growth), with occasional B2B and consumer brand engagements.

We believe that a design is only as good as its execution. This role exists to make sure that quality carries through to the very end.

What You’ll Do

Final Execution & Detail Craft

  • Take approved concepts and directions and carry them through to fully polished, high-fidelity final designs across desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Design and document every state for every interactive element (default, hover, active, focus, disabled, error, loading, empty) so nothing is left to interpretation
  • Sweat the details: spacing, alignment, type scale, responsive breakpoints, iconography, and micro-interactions all held to a consistently high standard

Dev-Ready Handoff

  • Prepare clean, organized, fully annotated files in Figma that developers can build from without back-and-forth
  • Define responsive behavior, component logic, and interaction specs clearly enough that ambiguity is never a blocker
  • Partner directly with developers during build to answer questions, review implementation, and ensure the shipped product matches the design intent pixel for pixel
  • Catch inconsistencies before they ship

Design Systems & Consistency

  • Build and maintain scalable component libraries: buttons, forms, navigation, cards, and other reusable UI patterns
  • Ensure every new page or feature draws from and reinforces the system
  • Keep design files structured, versioned, and easy for others to navigate

Collaboration

  • Work closely with UX/UI leads to understand intent behind wireframes and early concepts before pushing to final execution
  • Incorporate feedback from creative leadership and clients thoughtfully and efficiently
  • Communicate clearly with both design and engineering stakeholders about status, blockers, and tradeoffs
Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience in web or product design, with a portfolio that shows finished, shipped work.
  • Experience taking designs from "approved direction" to fully built, production-quality execution.
  • UX-minded, familiar with interactions and component-based design, and building/maintaining design systems.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser/device considerations.
  • Comfortable thinking in states and systems. You naturally ask "what happens when this is empty, loading, successful, or in an error state?"
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma (auto layout, variants, components, dev mode); familiarity with Framer is a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-obsessed, and allergic to loose ends.
  • Strong communicator who can work directly with developers.
  • Self-directed and reliable in a remote environment.
  • Has dabbled in HTML / CSS
  • Understands HTML structure as it pertains to layering in prototypes in Figma / Framer

Bonus

  • Able to build a basic HTML / CSS site from scratch
  • Motion/animation design
  • Experience in VC or tech
  • Agency experience
Why Join Us?
  • Craft-First Culture: You'll be trusted to own the final 20% that most people skip. This is work that we value highly.
  • High-Leverage Work: Your execution directly shapes how companies raise capital, hire talent, and define markets.
  • Tight Collaboration: You'll work closely with a small, senior team.
  • AI-Forward, Human-First: We use AI to remove friction and enhance efficiency, not replace craft.
