Job Description
Position Overview
Fulfill the mission of PWC’s Volunteer Involvement Program to help low-income seniors and people with disabilities stay safe and healthy at home. Provide direct-service opportunities for community volunteers by coordinating home repair and maintenance services to PWC clients.
Essential Job Objectives
- Manage the activities of direct-service volunteers, including weekly volunteers, episodic group volunteers, and regular weekend groups by coordinating repair and maintenance services in the homes of PWC clients.
- Schedule volunteer services, conduct follow-ups, and ensure the quality of the services provided meets PWC’s standards.
- Support agency-wide volunteer events as a member of the Prepare Affair, Repair Affair, and ToolBelt Ball Committees.
- Work directly with volunteers - supervise projects and manage the efforts of volunteers of various backgrounds, ages and skill levels.
- Identify and assess service projects for volunteers, develop scope of work and material/equipment lists.
- Provide thorough assessments and scopes of work to be assigned to groups as part of PWC’s annual Repair Affair.
- Coordinate with other PWC managers/departments to address housing issues beyond volunteer scope.
- Execute emergency repair projects and coordinate project execution with various PWC managers/departments.
- Conduct administrative review, quality control and final project closeout.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements/Qualifications
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- Demonstrated skills in project management and direct repair services.
- Experience working with volunteers preferred.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Education and/or Experience
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with construction activities required.
- Preferred experience with nonprofit sector and working with disadvantaged households.
Other Skills/Abilities & Functions
- Interest in meeting the housing needs of low-income residents to help them stay safe and healthy at home.
- Ability to work independently.
- Interest in developing technical skills related to PWC services.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Comfort in representing the agency to outside groups.
- Ability to manage time and maintain appropriate records.
Physical Demands
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close and distant vision is required.
- Frequent standing, stooping, walking, bending, crawling, lifting of medium to heavy objects, engaging in construction work.
Ability to drive to various locations and operate PWC service vehicles.
Work Environment
- Field/construction work and office environment.
