Protective Services Dispatcher in Columbus, Indiana at Columbus Regional Health

What you need to know about the Protective Services Dispatcher position:

• This individual will play a critical role in the safety and security of all patients, visitors, and staff throughout the health system. This position serves at the front line of public safety services within the hospital and affiliated facilities. Strong communication skills, remaining calm under pressure, and having attention to detail directly support the protection aspects of the hospital’s police and protective services department.
• As a Protective Services Dispatcher, you will be responsible for emergency communications by means of phone, police radio, and information services. You will assign and document calls for service, maintain awareness of current calls and officer response, and close calls at task completion. You will monitor various safety systems to include: fire alarms, panic alarms, personal duress activations, medical emergencies, and infant location devices.
• The base hourly rate for this position is $16.73. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
• This position is for night shift with hours from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. All dispatchers work 7 days of a 14 day pay period with a fixed pattern of working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.

What is required for this position:

• The Protective Services department offers a very strong training program for new or inexperienced dispatchers. The following base elements are required:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Prior experience as a dispatcher and relevant education and training for dispatching is preferred but not required.
