Job Description

Tech Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Lead based in Spain.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tech Lead to take ownership of technical direction, execution, and team leadership within a fast-growing, post-Series A startup.
You’ll work closely with the founding team and play a central role in shaping engineering priorities and delivering high-impact products.
A major focus will be leading greenfield initiatives powered by Large Language Models and modern AI technologies.
The role combines technical leadership with people and process management, while remaining strongly hands-on — with around 75% of your time spent close to the code.
You’ll help solve challenging engineering problems across a modern, scalable sales technology platform used by rapidly growing businesses.
You’ll also act as a key bridge between engineering and product, ensuring effective collaboration across multiple initiatives.
This role offers an excellent path for a strong technical leader looking to develop toward an Engineering Manager position.

Accountabilities
  • Partner closely with the founders to define engineering priorities, execution plans, and technical direction.
  • Serve as a key link between engineering and product, maintaining alignment across teams and parallel projects.
  • Lead greenfield projects from concept through delivery, including products and capabilities powered by LLMs and AI technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers while maintaining a high standard for engineering quality.
  • Plan and facilitate engineering sprints to enable predictable, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
  • Remain hands-on with the codebase, contributing through coding, code reviews, debugging, architecture, and platform improvements.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges while improving system stability, scalability, and performance.
  • Build and grow a high-performing engineering team, taking ownership of the recruitment process from sourcing through hiring.
  • Support engineers’ professional development through regular feedback, mentorship, and meaningful growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to broader engineering practices, processes, and initiatives across the organization.
Requirements
  • Several years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated experience taking technical ownership of projects or teams.
  • Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Senior Engineer with leadership responsibilities, or in a comparable technical leadership position.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to remain hands-on, with a willingness to spend significant time coding, reviewing changes, and debugging.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers and a genuine interest in helping others grow.
  • Previous people-management or team-leadership experience is highly valued, particularly for candidates looking to progress toward an Engineering Manager role.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and leadership.
  • Experience delivering complex projects in fast-paced environments and coordinating multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with AI, Large Language Models, NLP, or other modern AI technologies is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to reason about system architecture, scalability, reliability, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, or similar technologies is welcome, but direct experience with this specific stack is not required.
  • A pragmatic, ownership-oriented mindset and the ability to balance technical excellence with business and product priorities.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary.
  • Health insurance.
  • Stock options.
  • Remote working opportunity within the eligible region.
  • Flexible, distributed working environment.
  • Opportunity to work on greenfield products involving LLMs and modern AI technologies.
  • Significant technical ownership and direct exposure to company leadership.
  • Strong opportunities for professional growth, including a potential path toward Engineering Management.
  • Collaborative and technically ambitious startup environment.
  • Annual company trip to a secret destination.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to valuing skills, knowledge, personality, and diverse backgrounds.
