This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Operations Administrative Assistant based in South Africa.
This is a fully remote opportunity supporting a California-based legal team in a fast-paced professional environment.
You’ll provide essential administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals, helping keep cases organized and progressing on schedule.
The role combines document preparation, proofreading, scheduling, filing, and deadline management.
You’ll work with sensitive information and play an important part in maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and operational efficiency.
Success in this position requires strong organization, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work independently.
You’ll collaborate closely with legal professionals while using modern legal and communication platforms to manage day-to-day workflows.

- Support attorneys and paralegals with daily legal tasks, case-related activities, and administrative coordination.
- Prepare, review, proofread, and finalize legal forms and documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Draft initial discovery requests, client communications, and other case-related materials as required.
- Coordinate appointments, hearings, deadlines, and other important case dates.
- Manage calendars and perform date calculations to help ensure legal and procedural deadlines are met.
- File documents through court systems and follow established filing procedures accurately.
- Handle confidential client and case information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Use legal and business software, including Clio, RingCentral, Slack, and Outlook, to manage workflows and communication.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Proactively identify administrative issues, resolve routine problems, and support the broader legal team in maintaining efficient operations.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or in a comparable legal support role; a related bachelor's degree in legal studies may also be considered.
- Previous experience reviewing, proofreading, preparing, and filing legal documents.
- Knowledge or practical experience in civil litigation is preferred.
- Ability to draft discovery requests and professional client communications.
- Strong calendaring, date calculation, scheduling, and deadline-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a resourceful and solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and maintain a high level of discretion.
- Comfortable working with technology and adapting quickly to legal software and digital workflows.
- Proactive, dependable, accountable, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
- Positive and professional attitude, confidence in communication, and genuine willingness to learn and develop.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday on a schedule aligned with 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time, supporting a California-based team.
- Monthly compensation of approximately $1,150–$1,220 USD.
