This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Consultant- Cytogenetics based in India.
This part-time, home-based consulting role focuses on providing expert cytogenetics review and guidance for karyotype analysis.
You will assess karyotype images, validate findings, and ensure accurate interpretation and reporting of chromosomal abnormalities.
The role plays an important part in maintaining high standards of diagnostic accuracy and consistency across reported cases.
You will help ensure that all results follow current ISCN 2020 nomenclature and established cytogenetic reporting practices.
A key component of the position is mentoring and training team members to strengthen their ability to identify and represent karyotype abnormalities correctly.
The engagement offers flexibility, with working time structured around either agreed daily case volumes or approximately 2–3 hours per day.
It is well suited to an experienced cytogenetics professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, quality oversight, and knowledge sharing.
- Karyotype review: Examine karyotype images and provide expert interpretation and guidance on identified chromosomal abnormalities.
- Result validation: Review and confirm team findings to ensure the accuracy and consistency of karyotype interpretations and final results.
- Nomenclature compliance: Ensure all reported cases appropriately follow ISCN 2020 nomenclature and applicable cytogenetic reporting conventions.
- Quality assurance: Identify discrepancies or interpretation issues and provide recommendations to improve the quality and reliability of reported cases.
- Technical guidance: Advise team members on the identification, interpretation, and accurate representation of karyotype abnormalities.
- Training and development: Train and support the team in developing competency in karyotype analysis and the correct application of ISCN 2020 standards.
- Knowledge sharing: Provide ongoing technical expertise and clarification on complex cytogenetic findings as required.
- Work planning: Complete an agreed minimum number of cases per day or contribute approximately 2–3 hours per day, depending on mutually agreed engagement terms.
- Professional expertise: Strong professional background in cytogenetics, particularly karyotyping and chromosome abnormality interpretation.
- Karyotype analysis: Demonstrated ability to accurately review and interpret karyotype images and identify chromosomal abnormalities.
- ISCN knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ISCN 2020 nomenclature and its appropriate application in cytogenetic reporting.
- Quality focus: High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and quality in clinical or laboratory reporting.
- Technical judgment: Ability to validate results, identify potential discrepancies, and provide clear expert recommendations.
- Training capability: Comfortable coaching and developing other professionals in cytogenetic analysis and karyotype representation.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings and provide constructive feedback.
- Independence: Able to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision and manage agreed case volumes or working hours.
- Availability: Willingness to commit to mutually agreed working arrangements, either based on daily case requirements or approximately 2–3 hours per day.
