SHIFT: Afternoon Shift & Weekend Shift
LOCATION: Barrie, Ontario
MacLean Engineering is looking for skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Helper to join our maintenance team in Barrie, Ontario. If you are looking to be challenged, valued, and rewarded with a competitive compensation package in a dynamic work environment, this position is for you!
About the Position: The Facilities Maintenance Helper position involves a mixture of routine duties and project work as assigned and scheduled by the Maintenance Lead Hand. This includes taking garbage / recycling, and damaged wooden pallets to scrap bins, general plant custodial duties (cleaning railings, machines, windows, etc.), performing various daily checks, snow removal, lawn / yard maintenance. Project work may include building, fabricating, painting, repairing, running errands, and assisting peers with general handyman work as required. This position requires the following proficiencies:
- Remove garbage/recycling, and damaged wooden pallets from production and warehouse work areas using carts and/or forklift to dispose in scrap bins.
- General custodial services using various cleaning supplies and equipment, including operation of floor cleaning equipment (i.e. sweeper and scrubber), and scissor lift, as certified in production and warehouse.
- Snow removal and grounds maintenance as required, using municipal vehicle and sweeping/snow removal attachments, snow blower, shovel, de-icing, lawn mower, leaf blower, etc.
- Assist Facilities Lead Hand and/or peers with various project work, general construction, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs as required.
- Back-fill for custodian during vacation or absence, or as required.
- Always Implement and maintain 5S housekeeping principles.
- Cross-train in other departments as available.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:
- Minimum High School Education or Certificate of Completion
- Diploma or Degree in a related discipline is an asset
- One (1) + Years’ experience working safely in a manufacturing environment using equipment in a maintenance, mechanical, or custodial capacity.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pick up supplies as needed
- Fall-arrest and Working at Heights experience is an asset.
- Forklift experience is an asset.

This position is for the following shift(s):
Afternoon Shift: 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday (4 x 10 hour shifts)
Weekend Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday (3 x 12 hour shifts)
