You will also build high-performing finance and human resources teams while supporting governance, risk management, and board-level financial oversight. This is an opportunity to combine strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational management in a global, purpose-driven environment.

Accountabilities:

As Managing Director for Finance and Operations, you will guide the organization's financial health, investment operations, and internal infrastructure, ensuring that financial and operational strategies support its mission and long-term sustainability.

  • Financial strategy and reporting: Develop and implement strategies for automated financial data collection, analysis, and reporting. Oversee monthly and annual financial statements, dashboards, forecasts, and financial projections to support executive and board decision-making.

  • Budgeting, audits, and tax compliance: Lead annual budgeting, financial planning, year-end closing, board approval processes, and budget variance analysis. Oversee annual audits, tax filings, including Form 990 where applicable, and program-specific audits, ensuring timely completion and strong audit outcomes.

  • Cash and asset management: Develop and manage cash strategies to optimize financial runway, oversee restricted and unrestricted funds, and maintain required cash and net asset reserves.

  • Grant and funding administration: Oversee fiscal sponsorships, re-grants, pass-through funding, and investment and grant funding pipeline data, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Financial modeling and business development: Design and update financial models, pricing strategies, and budgets for products and services. Partner with the CEO and Business Development team to evolve the business model and diversify revenue streams.

  • Investment operations: Build and oversee an integrated back-office function supporting program-related re-grants, direct investments, and investment structures. Strengthen accounting and administration for liquid and non-liquid assets.

  • Investment strategy support: Work with the Managing Director of Impact Investments to develop investment vehicles, manage fund administration, and coordinate investment, finance, operations, and data analytics functions.

  • Internal controls and risk management: Maintain effective financial controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management processes. Assess financial and tax implications of investment holdings and provide guidance on agreements and contracts.

  • Corporate and regulatory administration: Oversee contract reviews, external legal services, recordkeeping, incorporation filings, and applicable regulatory filings, including FINRA and SEC requirements.

  • Human resources and employment compliance: Lead HR operations and support an adaptable hybrid organizational model. Ensure compliance with employment laws and statutory requirements across operating countries, including international payroll, GEO/PEO relationships, and entity-level employment obligations.

  • Technology and IT oversight: Manage the organizational IT strategy, annual technology budget, and technology personnel, including contractors and employees as needed.

  • Operational and administrative management: Oversee banking operations, credit cards, petty cash, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, financial software, and third-party service providers.

  • Procurement and organizational systems: Manage procurement and contracting for external services, coordinate policies across finance, operations, and grant management, and ensure accurate documentation and consistent recordkeeping.

  • Board and committee engagement: Work closely with the CEO and Board Treasurer, serve on and co-lead the Board Finance Committee, and prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and meeting materials for quarterly board and finance committee meetings.

  • Revenue diversification and business model innovation: Develop sustainable revenue strategies, explore complementary products and services, and strengthen multi-stakeholder business models that create financial and social value.

  • Team leadership and culture: Build and supervise high-performing finance, fund administration, and human resources teams. Promote cross-functional communication, collaboration, accountability, and a supportive organizational culture.
