Job Description
Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Urology team. The Certified Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff to provide exceptional patient care while supporting the daily operations of a fast-paced specialty practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Welcome and prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, chief complaints, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and updating patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Escort patients to examination rooms while ensuring efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and in-office urologic procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination and procedure rooms, ensuring equipment and supplies are clean, organized, and readily available.
- Assist with urologic procedures including cystoscopies, catheter insertions and removals, bladder instillations, voiding trials, prostate biopsies, vasectomy procedures, and other office-based procedures within scope and under provider direction.
- Collect, label, and prepare urine specimens and other laboratory samples according to established protocols.
- Perform point-of-care testing and document results accurately.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider and within scope of practice.
- Assist with patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, postoperative instructions, catheter care, urinary health, kidney stone prevention, and provider recommendations.
- Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.
- Coordinate laboratory testing, imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
- Respond to patient phone calls and electronic messages while providing exceptional customer service.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Maintain clinical inventory and notify leadership when supplies require replenishment.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and administrative staff to provide exceptional patient care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Urology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or another specialty practice is highly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Experience assisting with in-office procedures and specimen collection.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and infection prevention practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and assist patients.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required to perform clinical procedures, specimen collection, and patient documentation.
