Job Description

HRSD Functional Product Owner

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a HRSD Functional Product Owner based in Canada.

This is a strategic product ownership role focused on improving how employees access and experience HR services through ServiceNow HRSD. You will own functional demand, translate business priorities into a clear and value-driven product backlog, and help shape scalable HR service solutions. Working closely with HR operations, Centers of Excellence, and technical product leadership, you’ll balance business value, delivery speed, platform capabilities, and user experience. Your work will directly influence self-service adoption, Tier 1 service effectiveness, automation, and overall HR service performance. The environment is enterprise-scale, collaborative, and driven by continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to make a measurable impact while helping evolve modern, technology-enabled HR service delivery.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and prioritize the HRSD functional demand pipeline, translating business requirements, employee needs, and operational insights into a structured and value-focused backlog.
  • Define and refine epics, features, and user stories that align ServiceNow HRSD capabilities with desired HR outcomes, including clear success measures and acceptance criteria.
  • Make informed trade-off decisions across scope, delivery speed, platform capabilities, and employee experience to maximize business value.
  • Partner closely with the HRSD technical product owner to ensure backlog items are feasible, sufficiently defined, and aligned with ServiceNow capabilities and enterprise standards.
  • Work collaboratively with HRSD Operations, HR Centers of Excellence, HRIT, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvement and digital transformation.
  • Validate delivered solutions against business requirements and expected outcomes, ensuring solutions improve self-service adoption, Tier 1 effectiveness, and overall service performance.
  • Support enterprise HRSD implementations, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Contribute to improvements in HR service models, including Tier 0 and Tier 1 optimization, automation, and AI-enabled service delivery.
  • Apply Agile and product management practices to support effective backlog management, prioritization, release planning, and continuous delivery.
  • Monitor stakeholder feedback and operational insights to identify emerging requirements and opportunities for improving HR service experiences.
  • Promote scalable, consistent, and user-focused HRSD solutions that align with broader enterprise service delivery standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience working with ServiceNow HRSD as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Functional HRSD Architect, or similar functional leadership role.
  • Strong practical experience with ServiceNow HRSD capabilities, particularly case management, knowledge management, and Employee Service Center.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into structured requirements, including epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing work based on business value and operating effectively within a backlog-driven delivery environment.
  • Strong understanding of product ownership principles, stakeholder management, and functional solution design.
  • Experience supporting or leading enterprise ServiceNow HRSD implementations, enhancements, or transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, product management practices, backlog management, and release cycles.
  • Experience improving HR service delivery models through Tier 0/Tier 1 optimization, workflow automation, or AI-enabled capabilities is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around priorities.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating effectively with geographically distributed teams.
Benefits
  • Annual salary range of $118,000–$141,000 CAD, depending on role-related factors and business considerations.
  • Eligibility for bonus/incentive compensation in addition to base salary.
  • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees both at work and beyond.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees.
  • Paid time off.
  • Retirement savings benefits for eligible employees.
  • Fully remote work arrangement from home in Canada for this eligible position.
  • Flexible working environment designed to support productivity, work-life balance, and career development.
  • Opportunities to contribute to enterprise-scale HR technology transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Career development opportunities within a global science and technology environment.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diverse perspectives, collaboration, and individual contributions.
