Server - Position Summary
The Server plays a key role in creating a positive dining experience for residents by providing friendly, efficient, and professional table service in accordance with Legacy Pointe’s hospitality standards. This position ensures that meals are served accurately, safely, and in a timely manner while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment.
The Server is responsible for greeting residents and guests, taking accurate meal orders, serving meals and beverages, assisting residents as needed, resetting dining areas, and communicating resident needs or concerns to the appropriate team members. This role requires patience, professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in working with older adults.
In addition to daily meal service, the Server may assist with special events, catered functions, dishwashing, food running, bussing, stocking, and supporting other areas of Dining Services as needed. Duties and responsibilities will be completed while demonstrating behaviors that align with Legacy Pointe’s service excellence philosophy and core values of Hospitality, Service, and Accountability.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in food service, hospitality, restaurant service, or senior living dining preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with older adults or in healthcare dining is helpful.
- Ability to obtain Food Handler certification within the required timeframe, if applicable.
- Must be available to work the 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM shift.
- Weekend and holiday availability required.
- Must have a friendly, welcoming attitude and enjoy interacting with residents, guests, and team members.
- Ability to greet residents and guests promptly, warmly, and respectfully.
- Ability to take accurate meal orders while being mindful of dietary restrictions, allergies, textures, adaptive equipment, and resident-specific needs.
- Ability to serve meals and beverages in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.
- Ability to assist residents who may need help cutting food, opening items, or transporting trays while maintaining dignity and safety.
- Ability to set up, clear, clean, and reset dining areas before, during, and after meal service.
- Ability to follow food handling, sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Dietary staff, Nursing, Concierge, and other departments to support resident needs.
- Ability to relay resident concerns, menu issues, dietary changes, or meal refusals to the Culinary team or supervisor as appropriate.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and attentiveness when interacting with older adults, including residents with cognitive impairments.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dining environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
- Ability to assist with dishwashing, food running, bussing, stock rotation, and receiving shipments as needed.
- Ability to safely operate dietary equipment, including beverage machines, warmers, and carts.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic required.
- Must be a team player with a willingness to support coworkers and assist where needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull items as needed.
- Commitment to maintaining resident dignity, safety, confidentiality, and service excellence at all times.
