Lead Automation Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Automation Engineer based in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced automation professional to lead the design, development, and evolution of enterprise-wide workflow automation solutions in a fully remote environment. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader, driving automation transformation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, scalability, and business performance. Working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and cross-functional partners, you will translate complex requirements into innovative automated solutions while mentoring a team of engineers. The position combines strategic influence with hands-on technical expertise, offering the opportunity to shape future-state automation capabilities and modernize critical business processes. Accountabilities
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of workflow automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support business objectives.
  • Serve as the technical lead for a team of Automation Engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support while fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Partner with business units to understand operational challenges, identify automation opportunities, and develop scalable solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and business stakeholders, translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend optimal technologies and approaches for workflow automation, process improvement, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Design, test, deploy, and support automated workflows while ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities, timelines, customer expectations, and resource requirements.
  • Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across automation practices and standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, maintain source control, and provide ongoing production support for automated solutions.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration, influence technology standards when appropriate, and support the adoption of best practices across platforms and systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, technology bootcamp completion, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in information technology, including application development, workflow automation, and business process optimization.
  • Proven experience leading automation initiatives and supporting enterprise-scale automation transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with automation technologies such as Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, Copilot Studio, agent development platforms, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, authentication mechanisms, cybersecurity principles, privacy standards, and security policy implementation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills with the ability to evaluate and optimize complex workflows.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, attention to detail, initiative, and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to stay current with emerging automation technologies and recommend innovative approaches that drive business value.
