Job Description
Lead the way with strategic vision and impact
As a Director of Land Development specializing in civil engineering and land development, you will oversee large-scale site design projects from conception to completion throughout the Richmond area. Your role will involve empowering your team, fostering strong client relationships, and contributing to the development of the communities where you live and work.
About the Role
Bohler’s Richmond office is seeking a Director of Land Development to oversee complex land development projects, commercial, residential, and industrial, across the region. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of development, from feasibility and design to permitting and construction support, driving results that exceed client expectations and foster long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
- (Strategy) Partner with Firm Leadership to ensure implementation of new initiatives, establishing and implementing priorities and developing plans for future opportunities
- (Culture/Leadership) Exemplify the firm's Core Operating Principles and The Bohler Way, and lead team accordingly to create an environment of excellence
- (Financial Management) Maintain accountability for business execution to attain Branch financial plan goals
- (Efficiency) General day to day office operations and/or delegation of same to staff including office leases, furniture/computer/equipment ordering, seating assignments, staff schedules, etc.
- (Business Development) Create, build, and maintain client base in partnership with Regional/Divisional Business Development and Marketing teams to support the growth of the region and firm
- (Staff Development) Hire and develop staff in accordance with Core Operating Principals and The Bohler Way Values, including developing leaders/successors for the future
- (Customer Focus) Provide project management and production process oversight and actively manage projects as needed
- (Quality) Establish and implement QA/QC procedures and ensure adherence with Bohler Standards and quality assurance on all project phases
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelors or Masters’ Degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Surveying, or related fields and/or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of professional engineering experience including residential, commercial, industrial site design, and jurisdictional approvals/permitting
- Preferred P.E. or licensed professional in related fields
- Local and regional industry contacts and the ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
- Managerial experience leading team through all phases of civil site design and permitting process life cycle
- Business acumen with demonstrated success meeting metric goals
