As a Test Automation Engineer (a.k.a. Software Engineer in Test) you will be part of an Agile team and involved in all aspects of our projects’ lifecycle from inception through release working closely with the team’s product owner, architects and engineers. Your mandate on the team will be to: (a)maximize the quality, measurability and supportabilityof theproduction featuresbeing developed, (b)maximize the testabilityof the software by finding and closing gaps in test coverage (c) minimizethe team’s overall internal defect escapesby shifting the balance of how we manage quality fromend-of-cycle defect detection & containment(bug-finding & fix cycles) toup-front defect prevention(automation backed coverage of all our application features).

You will not be writing production code. You will however be writinga lot of codein the form of tools, emulators, mocks, fakes, stubs, unit, component and integration tests. You will also be working closely with the Engineering DevOps teams helping enhance our integration with our continuous integration (CI) systems, our virtual labs and helping build out fully automated reporting of all the various project quality metrics with a vision of achieving “push-button” reporting of a project’s software quality and trending (code coverage, static analysis, test surface coverage).

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting up test environments as required including client and web applications, services and databases.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated UI, API, integration, smoke, and regression tests.
  • Build and enhance scalable, reusable, and maintainable test automation frameworks.
  • Review user stories and acceptance criteria to identify test scenarios, risks, edge cases, and quality gaps.
  • Integrate automated tests and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform functional, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing as required.
  • Test APIs, microservices, web applications, databases, and distributed system integrations.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to improve testability, automation coverage, and overall product quality.
  • Troubleshoot automation, application, environment, and test-data-related failures.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, release planning, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools for test-case generation, automation development, code reviews, debugging, test-data generation, and failure analysis while applying appropriate engineering review and validation.
  • Mentor and support junior Test Automation Engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Qualifications
  • 4–7 years of experience in software testing, test automation, or software development.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
  • Experience with automation technologies such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, SpecFlow, Cucumber, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Rest Assured, Playwright, or equivalent technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Build mocks, emulators, fakes, stubs and test case libraries driving towards 100% acceptance test coverage of stories
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Understanding of modern quality practices including Shift Left Testing, Test Pyramid, risk-based testing, and continuous testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP and container technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes is an advantage.
  • Experience with or willingness to adopt AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies for test automation and quality engineering.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to independently contribute while collaborating effectively within distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience in Convenience Retail, Fuel, Payments, Wholesale, Loyalty, or Logistics domains is preferred.
