Position Summary

The Recruiter helps PT&P attract, evaluate, and hire talented people across a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role recruits for both professional positions, including office, engineering, project management, and administrative roles, and craft and skilled-trades positions such as material handlers, welders, and inspectors. The Recruiter brings sound judgment, clear communication, strong follow-through, and an analytical approach to every stage of the hiring process, from the first resume review through Paylocity onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Recruiting

  • Manage recruiting activity for professional, office, engineering, project management, administrative, craft, and shop-floor positions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Review resumes and applications against job requirements, experience, skills, and work history.
  • Use required screener questions on every job posting and apply responses consistently during candidate review.
  • Conduct thoughtful phone screens that assess qualifications, communication, work history, availability, motivation, and fit for the position and work environment.
  • Run Harris County background checks and complete required pre-employment steps in a timely manner.
  • Provide verbal offers on the spot when candidates pass the final selection process and are approved to move forward.
  • Prepare and send offer letters through Paylocity within 24 hours of approval.
  • Move cleared candidates into Paylocity onboarding and help keep the process moving through the candidate's start date.

Candidate and Interview Experience

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with candidates by phone, email, and other appropriate channels throughout the process.
  • Schedule interviews while still on the phone with candidates whenever possible, confirming date, time, location, interviewer, and next steps before ending the call.
  • Set accurate expectations about the role, schedule, pay, work environment, PPE requirements, and hiring process.
  • Maintain timely follow-up and provide a welcoming, professional experience for every candidate, including those who are not selected.

Hiring Manager Partnership

  • Over-communicate with hiring managers on candidate progress, interview schedules, feedback, offers, and next steps.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to clarify job requirements, identify qualified candidates, and keep searches moving.
  • Confirm that supervisors provide specific, documented reasons when rejecting candidates, and maintain complete records of selection decisions.
  • Share useful recruiting insights, including candidate flow, market conditions, response rates, time to fill, and recurring hiring challenges.

Systems, Tracking, and Compliance

  • Update recruiting trackers in real time, documenting candidate status, outreach, screens, interviews, feedback, offers, and onboarding milestones.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records in the ATS and related spreadsheets, trackers, and reporting tools.
  • Use Paylocity, ZipRecruiter, and other common ATS and recruiting platforms to post jobs, source candidates, manage workflow, communicate, and report results.
  • Follow company recruiting procedures and applicable employment, confidentiality, equal opportunity, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Protect candidate information and use sound judgment when handling sensitive personal and employment data.

Sourcing and Process Improvement

  • Source candidates through job boards, recruiting platforms, referrals, networking, community connections, and other appropriate channels.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring professional and skilled-trades hiring needs.
  • Monitor recruiting metrics and use data to identify bottlenecks, improve response and conversion rates, and strengthen hiring results.
  • Help improve job postings, interview practices, screening questions, recruiting workflows, and communication templates.
  • Represent PT&P in a positive, accurate, and consistent way when speaking with candidates and community contacts.

Manufacturing Environment

  • Become familiar with PT&P's manufacturing operations, job requirements, schedules, and career paths so candidates receive accurate information.
  • Be comfortable working in and visiting a manufacturing facility, including following required PPE and safety practices.
  • Build productive relationships with employees and leaders across office, shop-floor, and operational teams.
Requirements: Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recruiting experience required, with demonstrated success in both professional recruiting and craft or skilled-trades recruiting.
  • Experience recruiting in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, distribution, or similarly high-volume environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience recruiting for a mix of roles such as material handlers, welders, inspectors, engineers, project managers, and administrative professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity, ZipRecruiter, and other ATS or recruiting platforms required or strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate directly, professionally, and warmly with candidates, supervisors, hiring managers, and coworkers.
  • Comfortable conducting phone screens, coordinating interviews, presenting verbal offers, and managing sensitive or difficult conversations.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret recruiting data, maintain accurate trackers, identify trends, and make practical recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, trackers, email, calendars, and standard office software. Experience with formulas, filters, sorting, and basic reporting is preferred.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and a high volume of open requisitions without losing detail.
  • Knowledge of fair hiring practices, employment regulations, background check procedures, and confidential recordkeeping.
