Job Description
***This is a traveling position***
We are seeking experienced Traveling Fiber Regeneration Technicians to join our team. This position is ideal for technicians with hands-on experience in fiber optics, low-voltage systems, alarms, Telco Flex, equipment installation, routing, and fiber testing.
Technicians will travel to job sites to install, route, stitch, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic and low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working independently in a traveling field position.
Responsibilities
• Install and maintain fiber optic regeneration and telecommunications equipment.
• Run, route, dress, and secure fiber optic and low-voltage cabling.
• Route and stitch Telco Flex through racks, cabinets, pathways, and equipment areas.
• Properly organize, dress, support, and secure Telco Flex and associated cabling.
• Install and work with pre-terminated fiber assemblies.
• Perform fiber optic testing, troubleshooting, and certification.
• Test fiber using appropriate test equipment, including OTDR and optical power meter/light source.
• Inspect, clean, label, and document fiber connections.
• Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling and related systems.
• Install, test, and troubleshoot alarm and monitoring systems.
• Install and dress telecommunications racks, cabinets, fiber panels, and cable management systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation drawings.
• Identify and correct fiber, cabling, connectivity, and equipment issues.
• Maintain accurate installation, routing, stitching, and test documentation.
• Follow all customer, company, and job-site safety requirements.
• Travel to various job sites and work flexible schedules as required.
• Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, general contractors, and other trades.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in fiber optics, telecommunications, low voltage, or related communications work.
• Experience running, routing, stitching, and testing fiber optic cable.
• Hands-on experience with Telco Flex routing and stitching strongly preferred.
• Experience with pre-terminated fiber.
• Familiarity with OTDR and optical loss testing.
• Experience with low-voltage systems and/or alarms is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings, plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documents.
• Strong attention to cable routing, cable management, labeling, and workmanship.
• Comfortable working from ladders, lifts, and in equipment rooms or other field environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight away from home.
