SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager serves as the senior Human Resources leader for the Ohio manufacturing facility and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources operations. This role partners closely with plant leadership to drive employee engagement, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. The Human Resources Manager provides both strategic and hands-on HR support while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and Company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary Human Resources business partner to plant leadership and employees.
- Lead all recruiting efforts for the facility, including workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
- Manage employee relations matters, conduct investigations, provide recommendations, and ensure timely and appropriate resolution of workplace concerns.
- Coach and advise managers and supervisors on employee performance, corrective action, policy interpretation, leadership effectiveness, and employment-related decisions.
- Administer employee onboarding, orientation, offboarding, and exit interview processes.
- Lead performance management processes, including employee development, coaching, performance improvement plans, and annual review initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC regulations, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other applicable employment requirements.
- Manage leave administration, including workers' compensation claims, short-term disability claims, ADA accommodations, leaves of absence, and return-to-work programs.
- Review, approve, and process personnel action forms (PAFs), employee status changes, compensation adjustments, and organizational changes.
- Support payroll administration activities by reviewing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that support retention, morale, and a positive workplace culture.
- Coordinate employee training and development programs, including leadership development and compliance-related training.
- Analyze workforce metrics and HR data to identify trends and develop recommendations that support operational and business objectives.
- Support succession planning and talent development initiatives to build organizational capability.
- Communicate and administer Company policies, procedures, and HR programs.
- Partner with Corporate Human Resources to implement Company-wide initiatives and strategic HR programs.
- Participate in plant leadership meetings and contribute to operational decision-making as the site's Human Resources subject matter expert.
- Maintain designated workspaces in a clean, safe, and organized manner in accordance with Company safety requirements.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The Human Resources Manager serves as the primary Human Resources representative for the facility and is responsible for influencing and supporting managers and supervisors in the consistent application of Company policies, procedures, and employment practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Prior experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or plant environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, workplace investigations, recruiting, performance management, compliance, leave administration, payroll support, and employment law matters.
- Experience partnering directly with operational leadership to support business objectives and workforce initiatives.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), internet/intranet applications, HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, and payroll systems. Experience with Paycom or similar Human Capital Management systems preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as employment laws, policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and presentations. Ability to effectively communicate with and present information to employees, managers, and leadership.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve complex employee and business issues, interpret employment laws and Company policies, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions with limited direction.

This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The employee will routinely interact with plant personnel and may occasionally be exposed to production equipment, varying temperatures, dust, noise, and other manufacturing conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn when required. The Human Resources Manager is expected to maintain a visible presence throughout the facility and actively promote a culture of safety, accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
