VP, Membership & Community

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, Membership & Community based in United States.

The VP, Membership & Community is a senior growth and relationship leader responsible for driving new institutional membership while expanding and retaining a strategic portfolio of high-value members. The role combines enterprise business development, executive relationship management, account growth, renewal strategy, and community leadership. You will leverage an established network of senior leaders across corporate, philanthropic, and social impact organizations to open new opportunities and deepen existing relationships. As a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior executives, you will shape high-impact experiences aligned with members’ strategic priorities. You will also mentor Member Success partners and help establish best-in-class servicing standards across the organization. This is a remote, mission-driven leadership opportunity for a commercially minded executive who thrives at the intersection of relationships, business outcomes, and social impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive New Membership Growth: Build and nurture a business development pipeline across an assigned territory or segment, leveraging personal relationships, outbound support, events, marketing, and other engagement strategies to secure new Institutional Members.
  • Develop Go-to-Market Strategy: Create and execute a focused membership growth strategy aligned with the assigned market, territory, expertise, and organizational priorities.
  • Activate Executive Networks: Use an established network of senior corporate, philanthropic, and social impact leaders to build relationships with prospective members, convert opportunities, and generate account growth.
  • Own Renewal and Revenue Growth: Hold ultimate accountability for Unit Renewal and Net Revenue Retention across a portfolio of high-value members, identifying opportunities for cross-sell, upsell, expanded engagement, and executive referrals.
  • Lead Strategic Account Servicing: Act as the primary strategic owner for key accounts, developing tailored servicing strategies that align membership, Studio, and programming offerings with members’ evolving business, impact, and leadership priorities.
  • Identify Account Opportunities: Apply commercial judgment and structured account planning to assess account potential, anticipate risks, prioritize opportunities, and guide members toward high-value engagement.
  • Coach Member Success Teams: Mentor Member Success partners and model strong enterprise servicing practices, executive presence, commercial discipline, account planning, renewal strategy, documentation, and member communication.
  • Shape Member Programming: Partner with executive and cross-functional leaders to refine programming and ensure experiences remain relevant, rigorous, and responsive to member priorities.
  • Translate Member Insights: Bring customer and market intelligence into product, programming, and Studio decisions, helping shape offerings around real member needs.
  • Facilitate Executive Convenings: Lead in-person and virtual events with senior leaders, creating trusted environments for dialogue, peer learning, insight-sharing, and connection.
  • Build Community: Foster meaningful peer-to-peer relationships across the membership community and create opportunities for members to collaborate beyond individual events or programs.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work seamlessly with Member Success, Studio, Growth, and Business Development teams to deliver a unified member experience and support overall commercial objectives.
Requirements
  • Enterprise Experience: 10+ years of experience in enterprise business development, account management, customer success, strategic partnerships, consulting, or related fields, including direct ownership of sales, renewals, and expansion goals for complex accounts.
  • New Business Development: Proven ability to develop new partnerships, build qualified pipelines, and consistently work toward new business revenue targets alongside renewal and expansion objectives.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies for new segments, markets, or territories.
  • Executive Network: Established relationships with senior leaders across corporate social impact/CSR, philanthropic, and social sector organizations, with demonstrated ability to activate those relationships for new business and account growth.
  • Executive Advisory: Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior executives, bringing sound judgment, discretion, strategic insight, and relationship depth.
  • Executive Presence: Highly developed executive presence with the confidence to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority, and engage senior stakeholders credibly.
  • Facilitation and Convening: Strong facilitation and convening skills, including the ability to read group dynamics, elevate conversations, and create inclusive, high-quality experiences.
  • Servicing Strategy: Experience developing, refining, or executing account servicing motions, tools, and playbooks, with a clear perspective on what best-in-class enterprise servicing requires.
  • People Leadership: Confident and proven people management and mentoring capabilities, ideally within account servicing or customer success teams.
  • Commercial Mindset: Strong commercial orientation and comfort operating against revenue, renewal, retention, and expansion goals while using data to inform decisions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across Member Success, Studio, Growth, and Business Development functions.
  • Entrepreneurial Approach: High energy, initiative, and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing and evolving organization.
  • CRM and Systems: Familiarity with Salesforce or another CRM is preferred, along with strong documentation habits and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Mission-Driven Experience: Experience working with corporate social impact/CSR, philanthropic, or other mission-driven organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel approximately 1–3 times per quarter for member engagement, events, or other business needs.
Benefits
  • Compensation: Base salary of $150,000–$160,000 annually, plus commission.
  • Health and Wellness: Health, dental, and vision insurance, along with HSA and FSA options.
  • Wellness Memberships: Free memberships to OneMedical, Peloton App One, and Talkspace.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible paid time off and adaptable schedules designed to support work-life balance.
  • Giving Back: Paid time off for volunteering and opportunities to participate in internal initiatives celebrating community impact.
  • Caregiver Support: Dependent Care FSA and 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with an employer match on a portion of employee contributions.
  • Remote Work: Fully remote position for candidates based anywhere in the United States.
  • Leadership and Impact: Opportunity to work directly with senior leaders and shape a mission-driven executive membership community while influencing growth, member experience, and long-term revenue durability.
  • Inclusive Culture: Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where different perspectives are valued and incorporated into decision-making.
