Job Description

BENEFITS & SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $60,000-$62,000 per year.
*Occasional travel around Northeast Ohio is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Minimum Degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Thorough knowledge of clients rights rules and regulations.
    • Core Expertise: Possesses skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.
    • Cultural Competency: Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics.
    • Interpersonal Communication: Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language.
    • Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
    • Collaboration & Teamwork: Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
    • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.

    • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents and their families. Work in residential treatment and foster care preferred.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Clients Rights Officer ensures that Agency clients are treated with respect and dignity as well as ensures that the rights of clients are not abridged. The Clients Rights Officer is responsible for addressing all client-related incidents that could be due to a clients’ rights violation as well as investigating all client grievances and allegations.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Investigate all client complaints, grievances and allegations as well as any concerns relayed by management regarding alleged or potential clients’ rights violations or concerns.
  • As required or appropriate, partner with County and regulatory agencies on investigations.
  • Investigate all incidents referred by the Director of Risk Management or Compliance Director: Healthcare, Autism, Foster Care, and Adoption Services by conducting interviews with all persons necessary, including clients and staff, to determine whether an allegation is credible.
  • Report all findings to appropriate program and administrative staff.
  • Provide feedback and assistance in the development of corrective actions plans to address client treatment issues.
  • Develop mechanisms that enable clients to freely express their concerns.
  • Timely complete documentation of all investigations in compliance with Agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the backup for submitting DBH Reportable Incidents.
  • Attend Reportable Incident meetings, Root Cause Analysis meetings, appropriate sub-committees, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision and on-going training.
  • Stay current with all required training.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
