Position Summary
-
The Surgical Services Center of Excellence Coordinator supervises and coordinates the activities related to patient referrals for hernia surgery. The Coordinator’s primary function is to ensure rapid and efficient movement of patients throughout the referral process. This position is responsible for referrals of patients to the appropriate physician, problem solving across the units involved in surgical care, appropriate communication with management, physicians, patients and staff. Uses the strategic planning process. Meets routinely with accredited physicians. Reports to the Director for Surgical Services on issues relating to the operation of areas of responsibility.

Bachelor's of Nursing - Required

Experience

3-5 Years Perioperative Clinical experience - Required

Scub and circulating experience - Preferred

Operating Room leadership experience (charge nurse, team lead or equivalent) - Preferred

License & Certification

Registered Nurse License with State of Practice - Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Core Job Functions
- Demonstrates the ability to act as a professional and clinical resource. Provides excellent customer service skills. Maintains professional behavior in communication with patients and clinicians.
- Ensures the facility is maintaining all Center of Excellence requirements.
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills and comprehension and comfort with computers and advanced technology.
- Collaborates with physician offices to refer patients to the appropriate surgeon.
- Organizes, is present and takes meeting minutes for multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- Maintains and assists surgeons with review of clinical pathways to see if they can be improved upon and ensure all team members are following the pathway protocols.
