Position Summary
The Project Accountant will work closely with Lark’s Operations and Finance teams to support effective project delivery, financial management, and cost control. This role is responsible for the full project accounting cycle, including accurate reporting, budget tracking, billing support, cost monitoring, and timely communication with project teams.
Working as a proactive business partner, the Project Accountant will provide practical financial insight, identify issues early, and help deliver clear, reliable accounting support that enables informed decision-making across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Project/Cost Accounting: Responsible for all aspects of Project/Cost Accounting, including set-up, document control, reconciliation, and revenue/cost analysis
- Invoicing and Billing: Process and track invoicing for construction management, lump-sum, and development projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract terms
- Accounts Receivable Support: Provide support to Project Managers with accounts receivable (AR) collection and assist clients with AR issue resolution
- Project Financial Forecasting: Support the Project Management and Site Operations team by setting up purchase orders (POs) and drafting monthly forecasting for our projects
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial packages, including financial statements, trial balance, working papers, subledgers, and other supporting documents necessary for project evaluation
- Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of year-end audit and/or review working papers for external auditors, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
- Intercompany Reconciliation: Conduct monthly intercompany reconciliation to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Tax Compliance: Prepare GST/QST returns, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and process recurring journal entries
- Accounts Payable Coverage: Provide coverage and support with accounts payable as needed

Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or similar certification is preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a proven track record in construction accounting or related fields
- Construction Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction accounting principles, project cost management, and relevant software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint) is highly advantageous
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and external stakeholders
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Acumatica and Procore)

- Salary: $75,000–$85,000, depending on experience
