Job Description
1. Records patients’ medical and visual histories.
2. Checks patients near and distant visual acuities.
3. Administers eye drops when instructed to anesthetize, dilate or medicate.
4. Performs refractometry/manifest and cycloplegia.
5. Performs visual fields testing (desired)
6. Assists physicians during patient examinations if necessary.
7. Performs Amsler tests.
8. Checks muscle balance and motility (essential).
9. Checks versions and ductions (essential).
10. Checks pupils, including Pupil size, Reaction, and +/- APD.
12. Performs retinoscopy (desired)
13. Performs slit lamp exams of the anterior segment.
14. Completes appropriate consent and other forms.
15. Performs keratometer readings. (desired)
16. Performs Schirmers tests, Osmolarity testing, and Inflammadry testing.
17. Checks angles temporal and nasal
18. Neutralizes lenses with a lensometer.(automated/ manual)
19. Checks fit of contact lenses (desired)
20. Performs glare testing with BAT.
21. Performs tension checks.
22. Performs Worth and Wirt testing- stereo & fusion.
23. Performs color vision screenings.
24. Educate patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician.
25. Blood pressure and pulse
26. Cleans, rinses, and patches eyes as needed
27. Checks messages and medication lines as needed.

- Trial frame and trial lenses
- Diameter
- Humphrey visual field
- Goldmann visual field (desired)
- OCT
- Auto refraction (AR)
