The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for managing all tasks related to the various sourcing processes and activities for their assigned categories in sourcing for ingredients, packaging, finished goods, supplies, services, capital and non-capital items/projects. The Manager negotiates contracts with suppliers and help sell strategic sourcing services across the organization to meet cost savings targets.
This position assists the Sr. Manager to ensure the department improves profitability, reduces working capital, and increases service levels.
The position’s primary responsibility will be to source and manage, when needed, indirect categories (Marketing, Finance, MRO, Travel, IT, Human Resources, Logistics, etc.). This role will develop bid packages and execute competitive bid events (i.e. – RFP) for various sized projects. In addition to managing the competitive bidding process, the Indirect Sourcing Manager will be responsible for supplier relations and performance management initiatives. The Indirect Sourcing Manager will also ensure proper compliance and support risk management activities – including managing scope of work in a timely manner and confirming supplier due diligence. This position will also require active collaborations with key business stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:
Buying/ Sourcing (40 %)
- Oversee the sourcing process over an entire category.
- Source and manage various products and/or categories that are medium to high in complexity and spend; utilizing the various standard sourcing processes adopted by the Strategic Sourcing Department.
- Identify new suppliers for new and existing items including supplier relationship management.
- Develop and negotiate contract terms including executing and implementing contracts. Interface with Legal Counsel as needed to obtain approval on legal terms.
Leadership (15 %)
- This role will develop and execute indirect procurement strategies by investigating, analyzing and acting on savings opportunities for the organization. You’ll work as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders in the organization to provide insight and critical thinking for both short and longer term indirect spend initiatives.
- Identify and drive cost savings initiatives that support the departments overall savings goal, reduce working capital and increase sales.
- Coach, mentor and train Buyers.
Analysis (25 %)
- Review and analyze complex supplier proposals and make award recommendations to the sourcing management and Senior Management of the business units.
- Summarize financials and present recommendations to business unit and senior management.
- Utilize Industry analysis and identify industry trends to develop sourcing strategies for the category.
Vendor Relationships (20 %)
- Implement procedures and policies to ensure effective vendor service.
- Manage supplier relationships with primary responsibility for bringing resolution on a day to day issues related to pricing, product availability, and ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
Education Level: The most appropriate minimum education for this position is a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. MBA is a plus.
Specialization: Business, Accounting, Finance or Supply Chain 4 year Degree or equivalent retail or backstage management experience required.
Experience Level: The most appropriate level of experience for this position is 5 plus years in addition to the education listed above. Experience in sourcing for large organizations, negotiations experience. Knowledge and understanding of contract language required. Solid experience in contract negotiations and developing and managing strategic supplier alliances. QSR or Retail experience is a plus.

- Excellent understanding or manufacturing, distribution and logistics.
- Good knowledge of sourcing systems and preferable e-sourcing technology.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise wide systems.
- Solid working knowledge of contract law, government policies and regulations for the food and drug industry.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
- Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills and ability to work with cross functional teams
- High energy level, initiative, creative problem solving ability and sense of urgency.
- Ability to supervise, coach, mentor and lead employees
The target annual base salary range for this position is $110–$120/hourly. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or licenses, other legitimate non-discriminatory business factors, and the geographic location of the role. In addition to base pay, individuals in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
