About This Role

The Performance Engineer is a key contributor for analyzing data from operating wind, solar, and battery storage projects to drive performance optimization and asset value and supporting performance tracking and optimization efforts. This role sits within the Asset Management team and partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to improve asset performance and inform business decisions. The position resides within the Asset Management department and will report to the Manager, Performance Assessment.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze meteorological and equipment performance data collected at operating sites
  • Identify field data quality issues and work with operations and engineering teams to resolve
  • Collaborate with plant operations staff to troubleshoot underperformance issues
  • Maintain and enhance internal performance monitoring processes
  • Assist in development of baseline production and loss expectations
  • Assist in performing operational assessments and support production re-forecasting activities
  • Review contractual performance testing results
  • Support asset valuation, performance benchmarking, and loss attribution analyses
  • Develop and automate reporting tools and dashboards to improve data visibility and decision-making
  • Travel approximately 10% of the time

What You’ll Bring

Experience & Education

  • BS in electrical engineering, meteorology, or other scientific field; MS preferred
  • 3+ years in solar performance engineering, analytics, or optimization

Technical & Business Expertise

  • Experience with relational databases and large data sets; knowledge of AVEVA PI historian desired
  • Proficient with Python and PVLib
  • Familiarity with wind and solar energy assessments and industry-standard modeling software
  • Experience with SCADA data and performance monitoring platforms preferred
  • Ability to translate technical analysis into actionable business insights

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Identify and quantify performance issues and implement data-driven recommendations to improve asset output
  • Deliver accurate production forecasts and performance insights that support asset management and investment decisions
  • Improve data quality, reporting consistency, and monitoring capabilities across the portfolio
  • Establish credibility as a trusted partner to Operations, Engineering, and Asset Management teams

Pay Range for the posted level: $95,000-$105,000 plus target annual bonus opportunity of 15%. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and demonstrated market-relevant expertise
