About the role
- The Maintenance Technician II is a mid-level technician responsible for independently maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems that power the wave generating system. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, a strong understanding of wave generation systems, and the ability to lead or train junior staff as needed. The Technician II ensures high levels of system safety, reliability, and guest experience by proactively identifying and addressing technical issues. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician II position may be tasked to help with other maintenance needs that arise throughout the property. This could include but is not limited to HVAC repairs, cart/vehicle maintenance, pump and pipe maintenance and other mechanical needs.
What you'll do
- Perform advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance on wave-generating systems, motors, drives, valves, pumps, and filtration components
- Troubleshoot complex issues in real time; which may include electrical faults, control system malfunctions, and/or hydraulic failures
- Operate diagnostic equipment and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic (if applicable)
- Calibrate and adjust sensors, actuators, and wave control systems to ensure optimal performance
- Lead or assist in preventive maintenance programs and seasonal system overhauls
- Support commissioning and upgrades of wave basin technology, including system integration and testing
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and take the lead in restoring system operations safely and efficiently
- Train and mentor Maintenance Technician I staff; share technical knowledge and best practices
- Monitor and log performance data using CMMS or other digital platforms; analyze trends to recommend improvements
- Adhere to and promote all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirement
- Wave Machine operation during operating hours
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, water based systems, or industrial equipment
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to diagnose and repair multi-disciplinary systems
- Proficient with tools, diagnostic instruments, and electrical meters
- Working knowledge of pump systems, hydraulic circuits, and water filtration components
- Comfortable working in wet, humid, outdoor, or confined space environments
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Certified scuba diver or willingness to become certified
- Ability to obtain CPR training
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications and Personal Attributes:
- Experience in theme park or aquatic facility maintenance
- Familiarity with wave-generation technology or surf parks
- Experience leading small teams or projects in a maintenance environment
- Exceptional work ethic
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible is essential
- Strong team player
Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable):
- Primarily shop/outdoors during the day and occasionally at night
- Outdoor work conditions will involve weather, noise, and hazardous materials
- Frequently working on or near heavy equipment
- Humidity is frequently above 90%.
- Noise is over 85 decibels.
- Light is intense/glare.
- Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
- Required to work at heights
Compensation
- Full Time hourly position, benefits eligible including medical, dental and vision insurances
- Hourly wage: $29 - $33/hour
